Leaving cakes to colonize
    #2347880 - 02/18/04 12:13 AM (14 years, 3 months ago)

Wanted to know if this is possible cause i'm gonna be leaving for spring break and dont wanna lug more stuff home with me to just bring back later.  My plan was gonna be to innoculate my jars on friday or saturday (the 20th/21st) They'll be sitting in idealish coniditions (darkness and 83ish degrees).  Still using a BRF/verm substrate.  My last jars full colonized in like 16 days so I was wondering if when I leave for break if I have the jars close to fully colonized if they'll be ok sitting for like 8 daysish extra, the heat will be turned off for those 8 days too to slightly slow the growth... just let me know your opinions, hope this makes sense

also.. if it would be ok to just innoculate them now let me know, if they can take those extra days i'd love to get the job tonight asap... the cakes are gonna go into my first casing soooo lets hope this goes well

Won't be a prob bud. I've had cakes fully colonized sitting for 20-30 days causa lazyness, never had a problem fruitin em. Biggest issue is NOT to fluctuate the temp, a severe drop can cause them to stall. Other than that Party, Get laid and have Fun!
