Feel like I really did my homework and pulled an aggregate of really helpful hints into a masterful amateur run. From ground vermiculite as a casing layer, a heap of vermiculite added to the top of individual cakes to induce top pinning, exact spec built sgfc, inoculated with tested/tried liquid culture, grind own organic brown rice in a coffee grinder, no cakes contaminated, extremely coarse and wet perlite. I'm using rain water from a filtered rain barrel to mist. Some cakes weigh as muchh as 95-100g wet on lid. Won't spoil the surprise. Stay tuned.
Fun fact. I actually believed the two larger cakes to be contaminated, but after observing pinning in jar after quarantine, observed only extremely light blue discoloration from decidedly from bruising or being dry...no contaminant loss.
Also. I'm hoping my decision to grind the vermiculite to improve moisture retention after misting and in turn evaporation through added surface area. I took an empty bottle cap full of ground fine vermiculite, added water drop by drop until completely saturated, and left for work. Returned home to find the vermiculite felt to be completely dry. Wow.

Early pinning can be attributed to contamination but honestly, you seem to be doing such a great job that it doesn't even matter. Congratulations dude, you seem to be on the right track. It's surprising how many people fail to follow the tek only to be puzzled as to why their grow failed.
A little OCD is healthy in mycology but you don't have to use rain water for misting, tap will do just fine.

I do have a question for our experts. to potentially yield larger fruits, I purchased extra jar lids (with no inoculation holes) that I'll replace with the current lids (with inoculation holes) in an attempt to create mini reservoirs to continually feed a pinned cake with water. Probably use a sterilized eyedropper and distilled water. But would this in turn just less potent fruits because I'm just increasing water and not psilocybin content? Or is that a genetics dependent question?

You don't want standing water touching the cake. If you get a huge flush and the cake is not able to support water to all of the shrooms, you can put that cake on a saucer filled with water for a couple of hours, then put it back in the FC. Standing water will harbour bacteria, especially in a warm fruiting chamber, a couple of hours of bottom watering is enough.

"Wow" is right. nice looking work MAN.
My first grow was 24 BRF cakes in a 'fully automated shroom factory' (the ultrasonically humidified FC with all the modifications from the original MMGG circa 1994. boy, a lot has changed).
You have, what, 36+ cakes? "That's what I'm talk'n about!"
You'll find your humidity well maintained with so many fully hydrated cakes in there. Good move.
I like to raise cakes and trays off the perlite's wicking surface via a 1/2" pvc shelf (something from FooMan). Someone did a similar thing using metal bbq skewers through the SGFC holes. Here's the way I did mine.
plastic light grids (for cakes) are a little pricey but nice. You can remove all your cakes at once.
Your FC may be a little short for this mod. You do beautiful work so doing a taller bin shouldn't be a big deal for you.
very nice MAN. when that thing goes off, it will look like a Fahtster box
edit: bbq skewer guy was Spiritwithin edit: I've had better performance with taller FCs (volume thing)
awesome work
