Waiting For Pins on Bulk Substrate
    #23476948 - 07/25/16 09:01 PM (7 years, 6 months ago)

I used h-poo with some verm and gypsum as a bulksub- I followed RR's vid to the letter. I have opted to try without casing. My project(Cubes)is now at least 10 days old, the sub is completely colonized. Rhizo's are creeping up the sides of my liner in tree-like ropey strands. I'm concerned because water is pooling on the sub's surface and I have noticed two small, dry looking yellowish spots. I washed my hands, gloved up and washed my gloved hands is alcohol, and then poked the surface of my grow. It was very hard. Kind of the same as a well-colonized cake. I fear I have overlay and moisture ain't getting to the sub. am I fretting for nothing?

BTW, I carefully mopped up the water that was pooled on the surface of my substrate. All my holes are taped up tight, I have not covered the tub with any blankets or such.

Sounds like it should be in fruiting conditions already if the sub is as colonized as mentioned. Fruit it and you will see pins in a few days. It not being cased will greatly effect the amount of moisture in the sub. That's not a big issue but you will have to mist more often during flushes.
Is there moisture buildup on the sides of the tub and lid or is it completely dried out?

Since you opened the tub the fae will induce your pinning. Look up the late casing tek or fruit it. Also if you read rr's notes on moisture.. It should be fine

There is, and consistantly has been moisture on the sides of the tub. Thanks for your input!

Poo tubs often put out some metabolites, you will not see overlay with cubensis. I'd say go ahead and fruit it, make sure the surface is covered in fine beads of moisture but lightly soak up any pooling water with a paper towel.

Pics would be nice tho.
