'Espoma' soil innoculant to combat mold/ contaminants???
    #23476401 - 07/25/16 06:23 PM (7 years, 6 months ago)

Problem: Trich or other green mold on bulk substrates and casings

I am wondering if anyone has experimented with a soil innoculant such as 'espoma: tree tone' as a bacterial innoculant for substrate to combat such things as trich or penecillium. this mix has6 bacillus, marinbacillus, acidovorax facillis, arthrobacter agilis, 2 paenibacillus, pseudomonas alcaligenes and pseudomonas chlororaphis, pseudomonas putida and rhodococcus rhodochorus

I know RR suggests rhodendron leaves in bulk sub as preventative... anythoughts? anyone know anything about ANY of these bacterium? i was thinking i might add a very slight amountto pasteurized substrate just for innoculant as it is also a plant food with a 6-3-2 NPK value. what about isolating one that we find is effective in combating or eating the tric?

I am going on pure hypothesis here and research is ongoing into these species right now but i wanted to put this out there in case i get hit by a train in the morning....    or maybe if someone had already made what they call the 'wheel' lol

The most effective way to keep contaminations from the casing is a clean substrate/spawn, and a pH of ~8.5. Bacteria in the casings are good for lots of edible species since they're so aggressive and whatnot. Some edible species need specific types of bacteria to even fruit. With cubensis you want to just prevent anything from germinating without harming the cubensis too much. I'm not sure if inoculating bacteria to the casing would be the same result, but adjusting pH and clean spawn has always worked for me. Also peat already had lots of microbes in it. 0 contams on things i can tell are aggressive and healthy. Almost always see contams on things that are questionable lol.
