LED Strip lights making Martha HOT

Got these nice strips, and it's bright as the sun in there, but also getting hot, probably 85F .
Should I stop running them 12 / 12 ? Everything is pinning and growing better than ever, but I'm concerned about the heat.

Get different lights or have the strips outside the martha. 12/12 is not written in stone but it's probably the most optimal. High heat spikes of any duration is going to cause problems.

Ok, thanks. We only put them inside because we snaked them along each shelf so all the levels could have light above. Do you think if I just draped the flexible strip up and over that the bright light coming in from the sides on the lower shelves would be ok? Or are the mushies going to grow sideways?
The lights are really freakin' bright, so I'm thinking it'll be ok.

The mushies might grow sideways as they orient to the light. But I would rather have sideways mushrooms than bacteria or trich farms.

Maybe I'll get some clear tubing to run the lights thru, and let the ends of each row stick out the sides to vent the heat out.

You can take acrylic rods that are designed for light transmission (acrylic impregnated with fiber optic particles) and illuminate their ends. These could be mounted into tubs with the light source on the exterior, thus providing interior light in the tub with no heat radiating or electrical hazard.

This type of acrylic rod is designed to glow evenly, so it would be a bit like having a fluorescent bulb in your tub. The main issue is that there is a falloff the further the light travels through the tube from the source (naturally), however even with a large monotub you would be under the falloff range and it would illuminate evenly.

As a longtime martha user, I highly recommend you get a clear enclosure, and just have your lights outside of it. It makes everything easier.
Here is mine

I am unsure how much the mirror actually helps. The light is just some random blue cfl, seems to do the trick. It should be noted this room also gets a small amount of ambient light during the day when the sun is right.

Can you drop the voltage? I have a 12V LED but run at 9V.
