coolest weather u ever experienced? 1

this past weekend i was at a music festival way up in the mountains of new hampshire & it would go from being sunny to extremely heavy wind, rain, and lightning for like 10-30 minutes and then go back to being sunny. it was the most exciting weather i ever experienced. i thought there was a tornado at the festival at one point the winds were so strong. night 1 we lost a canopy but the second day there was like 10+ of us inside one holding it down so the wind wouldn't blow it away and we got to keep the canopy triumphantly.
what's the most interesting weather you've ever experienced?

hi sheekle
If by coolest weather you mean like mountain breezy type, I'd say the Bay Area would definitely be as cooly as it gets ime. It's amazing honestly. Its like walking with constant AC even when it's like 85+ out. It feels more or less like that in the tropics cept it varies on what season it is (especially during hurricane season) and your elevation. I love the mountains of my island, its just great all around.

We went out to fish. Little did we know the weather would turn sour while we were in our little 15' aluminum boat. As we headed back to land, we were just at the mouth of the bay when a ray of light crept from behind the thick clouds, only to illuminate an edge of the bay. The trees were completely amazing, all their colour brought forth in a background of grey. the birds began to flock as the weather lifted, and a single call of a loon encapsulated the moment while small waves still licked the sides of our boat and I looked onward to a small island off shore, where the sun seemed to say, 'oasis.'

At Madsummer right after Deep Banana Blackout finished their set it got foggy as fuck, like within a half hour it got so hazy I could barely see 10 feet in front of me
It happened right as I started tripping so at first I thought it was just the L messing with me but turned out it was real fog, it felt like some kind of voodoo magic

I was at a rodeo once and it was a clear blue sky only a couple clouds no rain no lightening nothing. This girl was riding her horse real fast with a flag around the track and she fell off her horse her neck hit the fence and she died instantly as soon as she hit the fence this tornado dropped down out of the sky and circled around the outside of the arena it was nuts.

I love weather. It really gets me excited for some reason. Southern New England gets its share of snow but nothing compared to when I spend the winter at elevation in Maine.
Driving through Missouri and Oklahoma I've seen some big storms.
Mt.washington has some fuckin wind at the top too. Last time I hiked it the last hour we were in 70 mph wind and clouds so thick the stone markers disappear

Driving into a tornado and taking shelter in a tunnel.
You can see the thin tornado or funnel cloud as we were heading towards it.
After we left the tunnel:

We had a full week off school and just fucked around building igloos and snow caves and tunnels and shit. Had some epic day-long snow ball wars with all the kids in the neighborhood. One of my best childhood memories.
I'm from Illinois we don't consider huge blizzards crazy snow it's just what happens. One year we had a real bad ice and snow storm all the tree branches were covered in ice and it made them break off and tear down all the power lines. Everybody in town had to buy generators and move in with friends that have one. It was walking only for like a whole month, all the roads were covered in fallen trees, power lines, branches, busted up cars etc. We were only allowed 10 gallons of gasoline per day because the semis couldnt make it in town to fill up all the gas stations so there was hundreds of people standing in line outside in the cold for hours with gas cans to walk home with their daily allowance it was nuts. Me and my friends made bank walking weed all over town charging 50 bucks a eighth for commercial.
Anybody feel like moving to Illinois yet?

I've been through a few hurricanes in FL. It's a pretty crazy experience watching the destruction from inside. I grew up on a large piece of land with a lot of debris, so it was always a scary experience. Fortunately our home was never seriously damaged other than our screened patio being ripped away... Driving around the day after is crazy.

The coolest part to me about monsoons might be how big the raindrops were. No stranger to storms in the Midwest, but have never seen those huge dinner-plate sized drops before.
Also speaking of Arizona, I was driving through Flagstaff (mountains) once and got held up for a few days due to a snow storm. Not particularly exciting, but it was really relaxing.
Tornado touched down in my backyard when I was a kid. Obviously I wasn't outside watching when it hit, but beforehand the sky was a green color I've never seen before or since-
Possibly the same storm Psychoslut mentioned, there was a really bad ice storm in 2006 or 2007. Everything looked like this-
Summer means a lot of storms here. Many don't last very long, and come out of nowhere. Horizon starts turning from sunny to this over an hour-
We get lightning storms too, constant lightning and thunder for up to several hours with little-no rain. Sometimes very heavy (and dangerous) fog. Friend uploaded this pic the other day-

Hurricane charlie. I was out in it when the first bands started rolling across the state. they were dark, almost black, with some instances of turquoise in between the bands at times. the clouds moved fast, and you could see circulation in the clouds where tornadoes were trying to form. Then came the extreme wind gusts... the rain feels like needles on your skin, and you have to lean into it to stand up properly.
I've experienced some sever thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes at work, pretty sure one tried to from over me as i was in my car on a delivery at work when it became impossible to see the road due to the wind and rain, and a road sign came careening over the front hood of my car. hadn't been in winds like that since charlie.
I've seen my fair share of water spouts too, they are mostly harmless and just kind of cool to look at.
At Suwanee Reunion last year i took a very strong dose of LSD and there was a freak thunderstorm that popped up out of nowhere. As it rolled in it put on one of the most dazzling and frightening displays of lightning i've ever seen. Everyone was out in the field jeering at the thunderstorm, and finally she let loose a bolt of lightning that was wide/fat and purple, which lit up the entire sky purple. It was incredible! I ended up being so far out of my head that i started talking to God through the rumbles of thunder. It was one nasty thunderstorm for sure.
At counterpoint in 2012, I had dosed what was given to me as LSD, but turned out to be a strong dose of DOX probably DOC. it took an hour and a half to kick in, and when it started, a severe thunderstorm warning popped up for the area so they made everyone go back to camp. when we got back, i went to my tent and had to stand up in it to keep it from blowing away while feeling awfully nauseous and man was everything morphing in ridiculous ways. Then my friends gave me a massive bump of what was supposedly 'mdma' but i suspect today was actually broken up meth, and i felt way better
On July 4th this year, I dropped a hit of some very strong L and a thunderstorm popped up in the distance and gave everyone a dazzling lightshow, i am pretty sure i sent the pics to you.
Earthdance 2014 I took a dalai lama hit of L that's been tested before to be over 200ug, similar to the one i took on the 4th. A massive rainstorm popped up and everyone in my camp mostly stayed back at camp. the clouds looked really cool though beforehand.
I've really gotta stop doing L, I make it rain when I do

If i had a band that toured i would always have a massive set of lasers just for that scenario. Imagine it's just a typical festival (awesome times, everyone frying having a good time) then it gets real foggy like you described, then BOOM! Laser show for free.

I used to storm chase with mom when i was a kid.
The rest of my family would get pissed (i did it from 6-15) because some of those storms were dangerous as fuck. She was a photographer and would get wicked ass pics of lightning. Doesn't sound like much but really think about it. A still image of lightning with a nikon camera. None of that "freeze framing high def video recordings bullshit".
I wish she were still up for it and would drive me tripping through some storms.

I have had a couple experiences. The first was seeing a lightning storm roll in over Table Rock Lake at night. The lightning was hitting the water every second, and I could see for miles from where I was standing. It was like an awesome mind opening trip seeing something like that for the first time.
Another time, I was camping up on Bell Mountain in Missouri. Second highest point in the state. So this storm rolls in, the clouds are building and moving in a wall formation and what not. My buddy and I decide to get off the rocks we were hanging out on and head back to camp. The storm is very intense and I realize we are probably closer to it than anyone else for several hundred miles around. Like someone else mentioned, midwest storms can be real sonofabitches! The thunder sounded like it was right above our heads and I was pretty damn scared that lightning would hit the peak, which is where we were camping. Probably the loudest thunder I have heard. And it has a different quality of sound when it's right over your head. More like a blast instead of having an echo to it.
Bell Mountain

-40 is brutal. I almost died sleeping in a suv while travelling for work. Was a serious struggle to get to the front seat because I was out of it from hypothermia as soon as I woke up. Barely started. Couple more nights on the road but left it running all night.

Would you agree with me that literally everybody living in this state has a plan or dream to get out one day?
Two winters ago is the winter that came to mind when i read your post. I started doing snow removal that year.
4 winters ago was probably the worst I've seen in my life in illinois (born in 1994). My friend got fired from a job because his car wouldn't start in the cold. He got wrote up and he already had enough for this to get him fired over. Half the people in the store couldn't show up for the same reason. What was stupid was literally 2 months earlier we switched managers. Our old manager said "if it's to dangerous to drive or it'll break your car down, DONT even try to come in. Just call us half an hour before your shift and I'll cover it." Well our new manager decided to throw that right out the fucking window without telling a single person.

I'm terms of just coolness, tropical storms in central America were rad. Strobe light style lighting all night and giant raindrops causing severe flooding in only a couple hours. Went for a big coked up midnight beach walk with it all lit up. The town was filled with land crabs following the flood. Saw waterspouts from a boat too.
