Shrooms in small container

Hello. I have never done this, but I am curious as to how shrooms handle small places. Let's say it can't freely grow more than 5 cm, what would it do? For example, it doesn't have too much place to grow on top, etc.

Typically IME smaller containers equal very few, but quite large, mushrooms.
