Spent the weekend with a guy with a really bad stutter

Met some guy recently who is a classmate of my gf's and we all went camping over the weekend so we spent the past 2 days straight hiking around, kayaking, cooking, drinking... Coolest random I have met in a long time. The dude has the worst stutter I have ever heard it's sad, every other word he gets caught on. He made jokes about it when I was smoking weed he walked up with his flashlight pointed in my eyes and said "F-F-F-F-Freeze! P-P-P-Police!... My st-st-stutter alone w-w-would make me me me a horrrrrrrrr-ible c-c-c-op!"
My fuckin god, my brain hurt from our communication over the last 2 days I was glad to split ways. I felt like a scum bag that it was giving me a head ache but it was.
It's a shame too he was telling me his girl issues and how his stutter drives women away all that shit. Any of you guys have a bad stutter? What is your experience?

I've never met anyone with a stutter like that, and i dont have one. Im really soft spoken though. I always have to repeat myself. I can tell it annoys some people.
At least he was able to joke about it i guess. sucks he has lady troubles because of it. I know i do because of my quietness.

I knew a guy with a pretty bad stutter. You really just have to get over that hump, you didn't have enough time with the guy. After a few weeks, if the guy is cool, you start to notice it less and less until its just like an annoying laugh.
However the guy I knew wasn't really THAT bad, he could make it through almost a whole sentence without a stutter sometimes. I did once wait on a customer who stuttered almost literally every word and it was indeed extremely frustrating but I was super patient because I knew it was a billion times worse for her

I have a friend who's got a stutter. It isn't terrible, but if you're not used to hearing it, you'll notice that they stutter pretty significantly every few words
Honestly, I don't even really pay attention to it anymore. I've known them for about 4 years now and I feel like my brain just kind of tunes it out/ignores it because it's grown familiar with it.

Yup, exactly. I had a friend with a REALLY silly laugh but I literally didn't hear it anymore after like 6 months. People would pull me aside and be like "OMG what is up with is laugh?!" and I would almost get offended, like fuck you asshole he obviously can't help it. But then I try to remember back to when I first heard his laugh and was like "Dude wtf?" inside my head

i don't stutter that bad, but it's noticeable. my brain has a tendency to place words in the wrong order, as well, which often sounds like an audible stutter as i correct it

I have a friend who had seriously looked into if he has a disorder because he has so much trouble getting entire sentences out sometimes. He can go weeks at a time with few issues but then sometimes for an entire day every sentence comes out garbled somehow. Like a missing preposition, a mispronounced word, or words just randomly out of order. Super weird but I don't think most people really mind, he always eventually gets it right lol

yea, no one's ever called me out on it. most people understand what is meant. that is exactly what i've experienced, though. did he ever find any information on a condition?
i've made a post or two about this in the past, but my speech abilities significantly declined immediately during and for ~5 years after i heavily abused psychedelics (lots of mush, then lots of L, then lots of salvia, then lots of DMT combined with lots of L and mush). they've started to return in the last couple years but will probably never be the same. the basic stutter i've always had, though

He never found any information on it, no. It seems so random, we can be having an eloquent conversation about the current political climate and then suddenly it takes 6 tries to get out the sentence "It was really hot yesterday and I'm glad its a little cooler today."
It would be like "Its hot yesterday." ..."Yesterday it was hot and I'm glad" ..."I'm glad the hot."..."I'm just glad its not as hot as it was yesterday....God fucking dammit"

i just had a similar experience talking with my grandmother two days ago, about the heat, nonetheless. took about 45 seconds to get one sentence in the proper order. it doesn't always happen, but it does happen with some frequency

I figure, some people can learn 6 languages with what seems to be complete and total easy. Its all basically the same shit, conveying ideas with random utterances of sound. Its essentially a memorization game. It stands to reason that for every person who can hold 6 languages in their head there should be an equal number of people who's brain just doesn't think any language at all is very good at being used to express themself. Maybe the two of you were meant to speak Japanese

This guy I work with has a bad stutter. He also repeats series of words frequently. For example, he might say "Ya we should do that - ya we should do that" or "I can't this weekend - this weekend." and he says "thing" and "whatcha-ma-call-it" in place of nouns about 60% of the time.
I happen to know that he uses cocaine because he has told me a few times out of the blue. He actually gets me weed sometimes. Dank stuff.

I hate seeing people apologize for having a stutter or having a cochlear implant.
It's like, it's not your fault and I don't mind, shouldn't have to go around life ashamed of yourself. When put in situations that start to get awkward I'll just tell the person they seem uncomfortable and I'm okay with a stutter I got time. I saw it a few times working retail where someone would have to explain something elaborate. I've been on job sites hand me a letter saying they got a stutter bad and this is what they want run through the attic etc
One girl in undergrad always seemed like ashamed talking in groups so we would just chill together. When having after class discussions and cig breaks you could see she was really uncomfortable and that's unfortunate. So we would talk and I made a friend. Never saw her again but she was a sweetie.
A deaf girl in grad school had such a hard time with her new implant and it looked like she wanted to kill herself. We had someone come in and explain how to make things easier or how to make sure she could read lips on certain sounds and phrases that could be difficult or very very simple signs.

That sucks. Im pretty sure stuttering like that can be improved with therapy.
It's worse than those kids back in high school with speech impediments. "Hey I want a BIEAU!" Instead of "I want a beer".
