They probably won't know what it is. Just tell them it's an ornamental sage if they ask.

I pot at around inch and half to two inches. I've let them go really long due lack of time to get them potted. They don't seem to have issue with it. I never use humidity tents for anything with salvia. Tried it a few times, every time its gone bad. But perhaps because my plants are acclimatized to my spot. If your plants aren't normally in it I wouldn't bother. The leaves will go limp sometimes and not look to happy, but still usually root. Wouldn't worry about it too much . Yeah bottled spring water.

My last cutting sat in water for months. Roots were like 3 inches long or more. The glass had green algae in it all over. Took it out and planted in soil, and shes doing great.

That has normally been my deal. I had about 4 cuttings taken this summer. Attempted to root in water, same condition as the mother plant, and they never rooted... took 2 more cuttings, but w a humidity tent, and in 5 days I have roots. It may be conditional. Or it may be the cuttings themselves... I think I will attempt a side by side when I can

One side life, the other? Not so much. Well i'll take it where it comes. Its slow growing. Do these plants naturally grow this slow? Anything i can do to speed it up?

Kind of different stages, so idk how much this will help you, but here it is anyways.

First pic was taken right after I transplanted it from a smaller pot to the one it is pictured in. Second was a few weeks ago.

First pic: 5/22/16 Second pic: 7/17/2016. So right about two months.

Maybe a little articial light could help speed things up a bit?
Anything in the cool blue spectrum will work great, around 5000-5200kelvin.
Just an idea.

The plant went through quite a bit of shock. I usually notice they take a lonnng time to make a come back after that much shock, but once that new growth gets going it will take off much faster. Like where each day you notice substantial growth.

Oh, and I definitely would not change its growing environment much, if at all at this stage.

Here is everything I currently have and the stages they are in...

two on the left doing the best. Potted in some new soil a week ago, so they should hopefully respond to that soon.

and this tall guy is really neglected. It was in the same soil mix I use on my trichs. It didn't go too well, so this was also put in new soil 1 week ago...

These were planted directly into soil, with no roots. They are cuttings from mid sections of main stem.  I see some new growth

and sadly this one has been in this limbo state between growing and not growing for about 1 month.  Same everything as the others. Sometimes they just dont do the thing.

I also blame it on this time of year. Its hot. with the lights about 85F.

This pic was taken in april when conditions were way better

You think it would be wise to break off that lifeless branch and try and root it in some water? I mean its still green. But i dont want to shock it either.

Eh, I personally would not add any unnecessary shock to that guy. It ain't lifeless until its brown and shriveled.

yeah I agree with shroomizzy last thing you wanna do is stress them right now.

My best idea for helping the growth along is a little bit of extra light. An artificial light source would be best as to not change her growing space too much causing stress.

At this point it's just a matter of sitting back and watching the grass grow as they say.

Not too much and not too little... ha. No but for real. Water and soil mix have been my biggest killers yet.

Definitely don't let it get to the point where the leaves wilt.

I've found over watering to be pretty easy for me. Where they literally wilt, drop leaves, and die in a matter of days. Though that could be attributed to my soil mixes.... That happened when watering was too soon between.

Only a light watering rather than a deep soaking is needed if the root base is small. I have learned that the hard way also

you'll kind of just have to feel it out based on your own situation. Kinda like cacti..... ya have to lose some to keep some.
