You should have put the cakes on foil not directly on the perlite. Can you post a good pic of you SGFC?

So definitely not a SGFC. Cakes need to be on foil, the small ones are aborts, probably because of the bad conditions.
The bumpy stems are not that abnormal though. That thing looks to be getting no FAE though, which halts evaporation, dries everything out, and encourages mold to take over.

Build a SGFC to spec, or start agar and grains and never worry of cakes again.
