Do you have a friend that you can talk about anything?
    #23472293 - 07/24/16 12:54 PM (7 years, 6 months ago)

I lately realized that I might not have this friend or these friends.
I would really love to talk about philosophy, purpose in life, challenges in life and other topics that help me to grow.
Sometimes when I a start a conversation about these topics they would just laugh and say it is kind of weird. Their topics are always the same: what did you do today, what did you eat today, how is work, did you buy a new xxxxx... and so on. I am not saying anything wrong with these topics.

I really wish that I could talk to someone seriously and not just about some superficial consumerism shit.

Do you guy have a friend that you can talk about anything and not getting these weird glances?

No. Every friend that ever promoted themselves to me as this did not hold to it. A man who told me that he was MY BROTHER and would share ANYTHING completely dumped me as a friend about 2 years ago because I refused to agree with him on an intellectual subject. I offered no malice or insult but received much nastiness in return. Then he stopped communicating with me. His loss...

When I last checked in, well over a year ago, and asked if he wanted me to call him, he said only if I promised to be entertaining. I never called.

The End.

There are several people in my vicinity I feel I can open up to about intimate subjects, and others have come and gone. I live with two of them now. While travelling I had brief but deep connections with quite a few people I may never see again.

The relationships all form different synergies, so maybe I wouldn't open to all of them about anything, but trust and acceptance are the common factors, such that there is little need to hide. I tend to be a recluse though, so they more often reach into my world to pull me out, but it goes both ways.

When I went to visit my best friend in California on the anniversary of having my world turned inside-out (see: My Existential Crisis), I was dying on the inside almost the whole time, but had to force a smile and pretend I was doing OK. No way I could open up to him.

The two people (one man and one woman) that supported me the most, both live on the other side of the planet and I have never met them.

Different people fill different roles in our lives.

Yes, I have friends that I can confide in every stupid, mortifying thing I have ever done, but they seem to grow fewer as I age.  When I was a little kid and just seemed to gel with people I figured that as I grew older I'd just accumulate more and more people that 'really got me'.  But as the more time elapses, anything could be further than the truth.  It seems that people prefer to live in their personas than their actual his-story or her-story..

I offered to bring some K to some isolated, island of a man that ran hot and, well, icy, with people......as one last chance to experience what I considered a very painless psychedelic state.  He said he would, but couldn't chance the opiate czar testing him and taking away his pain meds.  :ohwell:  Never did meet....

We now have a Ketamine clinic in Portland to treat depression, PTSD, and relieve chronic pain symptoms...... http://www.portlandketamineclinic.com/Ketamine.html

If we could look into each others hearts, and understand the unique challenges each of us faces, I think we would treat each other much more gently, with more love, patience, tolerance, and care.

It takes a lot of courage to go out there and radiate your essence.

I know you scared, you should ask us if we scared too.  If you was there, and we just knew you cared too.

I have one friend like this but I feel hurt/abandoned by him right now because he just up and moved to Oregon on me, with only a week's notice.  I know he needs to do what is right for his life and it has nothing to do with me, I just feel lonely now because he was my only real friend that I actually liked, trusted and saw on a regular bases. Now Im back to spending all my time alone.

I want to get a girlfriend but I am afraid girls will think I am weird because I dont have any friends or socialize much and because I am weird.

Own your weirdness, do you just want to be another pinko? Fuck no!  In my personal life, getting over my fear of rejection was one of the most liberating aspects of my life.  Shamelessly hit on the most beautiful women you encounter.  A lot will reject you, but I assure you if you keep pressing it, one of them is feeling lonely too and just wants some attention.

Unless I can talk about anything with a person, I would not count them as a friend.

One of those 'weird glances' (I get them a lot) automatically discounts a person from being someone I would dedicate any of my time to. It pretty much sends me in the other direction, unless there are mitigating circumstances.
