wood lover vs cobweb
    #23471896 - 07/24/16 10:26 AM (7 years, 6 months ago)

So I started with cardboard tek growing some ovoids mycelium from stem butts n after it was colonized I transferred to some hardwood chips I soaked. I have them in little Tupper wear containers. About 4 days after I transferred the cardboard to woodchips I checked on them n the woodchips are covered in cobweb mold but the mycelium is starting to grow on the woodchips. Will the mycelium over take the cobweb mold? I was going to drill a hole in the lids today n stuff with cotton balls for FAE because I suspect that is why the cobweb mold grew in the first place. This is for starting outdoor patches also, so I wasn't as clean as I would have been with other mushrooms.

So my question is will the mycelium take over or should I pasteurize my woodchips and start over with my remaining mycelium growing on cardboard.

You can try spraying some undiluted h202 on it. It should kill it pretty quickly if it is actual cobweb. You are right, lack of FAE is what gave cobweb the advantage, always have some FAE going in tubs and containers.
