advantages of WBS over rye?

So for the most part I'm a rye user. I found a pretty good price for it at an organic grocery store. I know a lot of people here use WBS and I've tried it too. I was wondering if there are any advantages to WBS.
Every time I make it, it ends up being a f**king mess because the seeds are so small they pass through my colander. Also:
in the RR rye tek, you boil your grains then dump 'em into strainer and toss. The heat helps remove excess moisture via evaporation.
In Doc's WBS tec, you boil the WBS, then strain with cold water to remove this crap that forms gels and then you drain (without the excess heat to evaporate out the water).

Get yourself a large fine metal mesh type strainer. A lot of brew craft shops carry decent ones, and cheap ones can be gotten at wally world. The only benefit of WBS is that it is cheap compared to rye. Forage oats used as livestock feed are really good, about as cheap as WBS, and better than rye as a spawn when the cards are down. It does take it's sweet time to colonize though.

Now I may be wrong but I think the advantages of WBS are availability, cost, and more inoculation points due to smaller grain size (resulting in faster colonization).
But to appreciate any of the advantages you should first get a proper colander (or just use a windscreen), and follow a better tek, such as Fooman's WBS tek, or SBJ's tek if you would rather soak than steep.

Use whatever you have available and cheap. I have white millet and wheat close and very cheap, cheaper than any wbs, so this is what i use. If you have rye cheap and readily available use that and don't worry about bird seed.
