Alpaca and goat poop
    #23469040 - 07/23/16 11:29 AM (7 years, 6 months ago)

I just shoveled a shit load (pun intended) of alpaca and goat manure out of a barn. Theres a lot of straw and wood shavings (probably pine) mixed in. It pretty much looks like wet, black, sludgy straw. It also has an ammonia-like smell to it and im sure theres urine mixed in there too. I want to use it to grow portobellos. Does it need to age? leech? dry? ... what do I have to do to get this stuff ready to grow on?

You cannot use it with ammonia, mycelium hates ammonia filled horse manure.  Read up on The mushroom cultivator by stamets,
he talks about composting phase I and II.

Aging, leeching, drying(these are like cold composting) would probably work and are designed to break down the ammonia,
so it composting though and your yields will prob. be better.  Stamets says the less time spend composting the more nutrients are retained... Faster composts done with higher heat are better in the end.
