Outdoor Incubation?!? Is it possible.

Hi all,
I'm curious to know if anyone has had success with an outdoor incubation chamber. I live in a "humid subtropic" climate; warm summers (30-36'C / 86-97'F).
I believe a Styrofoam Cooler: • perforated and micropore-taped to allow gas exchange and water drainage • buried at a certain depth, a little over 0.762 meters (or 2.5 feet) Will work as an incubation chamber.
I measured the temp. of the soil and it came out to be about 15.5 C (or 60-62 F). I don't have the temp. for the inside of the cooler but I predict it to be about 21 C (or 70-73 F); if I were to guess. I won't have that data, until I go back for a "check-up".
I know that conventional wisdom suggest incubation temps between 23 C to 29 C ( 75-85 F) though colonization will occur at lower temps; albeit more slowly. Can you think of any reasons why this won't work? Mushrooms grow in many diverse environments, after all.
Thanks.
PS: Forgot to mention, using PF/BRF Jars w/Micropore tape. These jars are inside the cooler, in case that wasn't clear.

Why don't you just keep them on a shelf inside? They don't need to be kept warmer than the mid 80's°F.
Micropore tape might prevent contaminates to a degree, but don't stop rodents from trying to get a snack.

It would make more sense to keep spawn indoors, so it's in a controlled environment and away from as many negative variables as possible. You don't want drastic fluctuations in temperatures during colonization. That will only stress the mycelium and possibly sour your PF jars.

I agree with both of you but circumstances do not allow traditional methods. I'm going this route, for several reasons. I have a few jars, in preferable conditions. The outdoor jars are my "variables". As I would like to learn more about outdoor teks, and the local weather conditions, I figured it would be a good experiment. Either way, I should end up with a few winners.

Is this for real or are you completely confused about spawning outdoors? Never heard of any tek or experiment that involves burying a styrofoam cooler with PF jars inside of it.
