Cutting cakes in half?

So this is just a quick question. I have a substrate which I made in a pretty tall glass and it's too tall for my current fruiting chamber. SO I was wondering if it'd be alright to cut the cake in half? Will the mycelium get shocked or something, will it stunt growth or abort the cakes? Thanks in advance.

sounds like your fruiting chamber is pretty small, id rather lay them on their side than cut them in half. Just prop them up with a bit of foil or something so they don't roll about.

there's no good reason whatsoever to cut a cake in 2.
if you cant even fit your cakes where are the mushrooms supposed to grow?

Yep. Just lay them on their sides and make sure they don't cause an idententation in which water could pool. Stagnant water in open air is never good. Please don't cut your cake in half there's no good reason.

as someone above stated. i would lay it on its side. you can stick some toothpicks in it as a stand. that way you'll get growth and airflow all around. think like 4 toothpicks as table legs or a-frame type legs like on a picnic table.
