Weird, my post didn't appear... I'll re-post. First of all, everybody needs to lighten up on the NooB's. We were all new once and we all wanted to know the same thing. Which strain is best and how much does it yield. Yet sooooo many are surprized when another n00b asks the same thing. He said nothing about pounds of shrooms. He said nothing about growing in his parent's house. Let's stop assuming every new person who asks a question is EVIL. Anyway, my post: Wooden, Usually, the one that doesn't contaminate yeilds best. If you can make your own jars, yield shouldn't matter too much. Just do more jars. Cubes are cubes... they tend to have similar yields. Some are tall, some are short and fat. Some flush more than others... ultimately, you will get similar yields. Usually substrate and a pure strain have more to do with bulk than which spores you use. If you want better yields... straw/poo bulk casings are good. Agar work and Grain to Grain transfers help a lot too. Wooden, try searching The Shroomery for this type of info. Your question gets asked at least once a week.

Cervente, I agree, the community is pretty harsh at times on Noobs. Go bulk for yield. Look up straw log in the grow logs. puggy

Mexicana A strain (it isn't cubensis but it is easy as hell to grow)... it produces sclerotia (truffels). You get the most bulk for your effort as far as I can tell.
Good luck

This was originaly posted in Advanced Cult. I simply said it was the wrong forum, what was so harsh? Maybe when you were a newb you had this same question but I bet you didn't post it in Advanced.

@cro, THE BOSS, I didn't know this was posted in Advanced cult. I saw it in here before it had any posts responding to it. There is a lot of rudeness to new posters. Lots of threads... this is hardly the worst one... I just wanted to stop it before it got too bad. The things I look for are phrases like: "How to I grow 10lbs of shrooms per month?" or "How do I keep my grow secret? My mom would flip if she caught me." or my favorite... "I'm 16 and I have never tripped before. How ez are shrooms to grow? Could someone send me a sample to get started? Shrooms or spores would be fine. I live in California." If someone says something like that, flame away. If they don't, think before you post. My only problem is the first two posts did nothing to answer his question. Neither one of you were very rude... although I'd like to keep the personal questions ("How old are you?") to OTD or PM's. He didn't offer any personal information so there is no sense in asking for it. My post was in reference to a general trend in this forum. Posting responses without responding to the question that was asked. Don't post if you have nothing to say. That's all.

Everyone knows people post questions in Advanced which don't belong there because they feel Cult moves too quick they feel it just get skipped over. I wouldn't answer the question while it was in that forum because I don't want to perpetuate these actions. Why encourage people posting things in places they don't belong? Now that it is in here, I would say the strain isn't really an issue. If you want to maximize yield you should use an isolate but if you're asking this question you probably won't have an isolate to go off of so, just get started and keep reading.

hahaha yeah those are my favorites too!
wooden frog, welcome aboard! The spell check button is under the reply box, right next to the preview button, which is also handy!
As far as yields go...I wouldn't worry about it, once you get the hang of it, it's easy. Just practice and READ EVERYTHING! Also remember to check the FAQ's or do a search before you post. We answer lots of questions over again and the answers don't usually change.

Agar work and Grain to Grain transfers help a lot too.
How does G2G increase yield? Is it just the faster colonization or the fact that the growth is all coming from one jar so its basicly like cloning?

Combined with good agar work, you could clone a perfect strain for a long time using GTG.
Cloning works well, but a pure strain can only be obtained on agar. If you get a good fruiting perfect strain on agar. Colonize a jar of grain, use it to spawn 10 jars, use them to spawn 100 jars... use them... get the idea?

Then again I read the FAQ, and used the search option before I started posting "once a day" questions.
