Need help identifying these mushrooms
    #23465979 - 07/22/16 12:56 PM (7 years, 6 months ago)

Hello everyone I am new here and to shrooms as I have never taken any psychedelic mushrooms before.
Right now I'm in Guadalajara, Jalisco,  Mexico and I was looking for shrooms cause it's rainy season in zapopan, Jalisco. I went to a field where there was cows and I started looking in their poop and found just three brown shrooms and a little white one. I think the brown ones might be psylocibe mexicana but I'm not sure and that's what I need help with. They were growing on cow dung and by cow dung. I will post pics.

Those look pretty nasty.  I think you will have better luck looking for caerulescens in the cloud forests.

Edit: Sorry, only could see the picture of the rotten looking ones in your palm before.

I'm curious too now. The stems and stirate cap scream pysilocybe to me. Is there some bluing on them as well? Kinda looks that way.
Did you take spore prints (a good habit) by any chance?
I know nothing of tropical mushrooms.. someone here should.
Enjoy Jalisco and I'm sure you'll get a picking scenario figured out, habitat looks awesome.

Keep an eye out for P. Cubensis on/near cow poop. A friend was picking them in Michoacan. Habitat looks right.

I didn't take spore prints I had em in my pocket since I picked them and they turned dry like in the first pic. I think there was blueing on them but I'm not sure I think you can kinda see it in the first pic the dried ones. Help is appreciated I will look for more later when I have the chance but I really want to know if they are psychedelic it's my first hunt and I've never taken any before.

These aren't required, but they are great to have. If you're not worried about creating spore syringes from your prints, grab a sheet of plain white paper or foil and place the cap with the stem removed gills down on the sheet. Grab a cup or jar or something wide enough to fit around the cap and rinse it with water, wipe it out but leave some residual moisture, place the cup or jar over the cap on the sheet and leave it be overnight (a few hours will do too, but so far i've noticed the longer it sets the easier it is to tell which color it is). Remove the cup or jar, flip over the cap and there's your spore print.

If you know youll be out hunting, bring a paper bag. They are good for carrying your mushrooms while youre out without worrying about damaging them and they let the mushrooms breathe.

Good luck out there!!

:greatjob:

Oh and bruise the stem of them to see what color if any the stem turns as a result

Peace and positivity. Can anyone confirm these as psylocibe mexicana or other psylocibin shroom so I know if I can eat them. Also I'm really skinny and it would be my first time so should I eat all three? Thanks
