Best cities across the globe to live in

So I'm thinking in the next few years of buying or building a home. I don't have much of a country preference, as long as I can get by with speaking English (I can greet people in 20 languages, so I'm happy to become fluent in a native language if I move), it is a country where white females are treated as equals (please don't dissolve the thread into discussion on this topic), and somewhere I can bike to grocery and easily access outdoor sports, like water, mountains, or desert.
Sounds like a tall order, right?
To get the ball rolling, I have looked at home prices in Nashville, TN (current location), Bellevue, WA, Salt Lake City, UT, Boulder, CO, Juneau, AK, and some islands in Canada. I have also considered setting myself up for a nomadic lifestyle, but haven't found anyone with a good template for that living.
Where have you thought about planting your feet? Do you think about setting yourself up in a home or do you think about something more non-traditional, like yurts or other nomadic living?

Standard home in the burbs outside of a major city. Totally content with that at the moment.

It depends what you want I suppose, affordability, nature, mountains/ocean/forest/beaches, city life etc
my favorite places are the Gulf Islands in B.C. but that might just be because I'm a dirty old hippie at heart
as far as cities go, I'm not a fan but Germany is good (Berlin, Munich), Amsterdam, Prague is pretty cool too, New Zealand has some cool stuff, Melbourne is awesome, if you could somehow live in Switzerland they're pretty cool, too many cool cities to name in the US probably...
In good ol' soviet Kanukistan there's Montreal, Vancouver, Vancouver Island (Victoria and such), other than that the rest of the country can fuck off imo

They do a survey for this each year;
The 10 cities in the world with the best quality of life
I can vouch for a few of those too...
-------------------- Let it be seen that you are nothing. And in knowing that you are nothing... there is nothing to lose, there is nothing to gain. What can happen to you? Something can happen to the body, but it will either heal or it won't. What's the big deal? Let life knock you to bits. Let life take you apart. Let life destroy you. It will only destroy what you are not. --Jac O'keeffe

those lists always depress me because Vancouver is unpleasant imo, but I guess I'm just a country kind of guy. Surrey and Richmond suck though, they bring the city down by association a few notches
