APE Micro Pocket Mono (153rd scale 66qt)
    #23464924 - 07/22/16 05:50 AM (7 years, 6 months ago)

Having a little fun.

I found this old tote kicking around in the basement, been stored in a box for years before starting growing, had long forgotten about it. The funny thing is it look to be almost an exact replica of the Sterilite totes I grown in for a while... Almost exact in every way.

Thought it would be a fun project to drill some holes in it just like my full scale 66qt mono, except this wee thing is only .43qt!! Thats over 150x smaller!

So, That is what I did. It was a pain in the ass to make it an exact replica of a full scale tub in every way I could think of, being so small, I did my best. I did get a good kick out of seeing it all finished, I hope you do too.

What I did was take a small 250ml jar of prepped steel cut oats and inoculated it with a colonised APE rye grain. This was my first time ever prepping steel cut oats, it worked out well. I then waited for it to fully colonize, cheese grated into some CVG I had set aside for the occasion. The rest was easy. Here are a few pictures of it.

I plan to poly the tiny scale holes just like a full sized mono, once it get to 100%, case and fruit. I think this thing is really cool because it is almost an exact replica of what we do, fully automated and portable to take with ya on the road. It literally fits in the palm of your hand, yet should do the exact same job as a full size.

Now, let see if we can get enough blue dicks out of this tiny thing to catch a buzz!

Keep you posted, fruits or not! (I have bad luck with APE, and after all, this is an experiement!)

dude... this is awesome!

it's so cute!!

looks like it might be about the same amount of spawn/sub that is in one Big Gulp, so might be able to get quite a bit out of it.

if it  is .49qt, it should be closer to 135x smaller than a 66qt.

66/.49 = 134.69

but then, looking at it and thinking about it, it kinda desnt look like you could fit 135 of those small ones in the 66qt tub. but maybe you could... so idk haha. now i feel stupid!

Because the .49 would be the inside volume. You could fill 135 of those with water and fill the big one completely... In theory.

The tub is .43, I just divided 66 by that to get my 153rd scale estimate, simple math.

I am happy you all are digging this.

The only thing is I've looked online and had a really hard time finding more of these... Bummer.

Oh well, at least I got one to play with.
