Ive never seen stroma before, I put spores from an old print on agar 18 times and only got germination once and this was the result.

How often can I expect fruits with cubensis given this kind of behavior? Ive scraped the surface.

That ain't stroma and you should never scrape cubes. Ganoderma maybe but scraping cubes is just a bad idea all around.

That's bacteria. Gross... I had one like that, complete with fungal gnats. It was a nasty mess by the time I got around to chucking it. Sometimes I get lazy about disposing of contaminates tubs lol

So it was dry, so you peeled off the surface.  Man... What is going on around here lately?

Ugh, in that fucking thread, a TC with 1000 posts says

Looks like maybe it got a little too wet?

What the fuck....  How the fuck did that person get the TC tag?  By that measure let's give blackdust the TC tag.

That sounds so interesting.. like, I would never do that to my substrates because I want mushrooms out of them, but I do kinda wish I could just like, pull and peel a substrate to really like, feel the mycelium.  I just can't ever justify it given that I try to expect great things out of my grows and don't cope well with disappointment or regret.  I don't even spawn grain that looks even a little bit bacterial anymore.  Too many failures over time is psychologically bad for you, so when I take a shot I try to make it count for everything.

I do touch my agar sometimes after it's done colonizing and I've taken my transfers though.   I just open it up and pull it out with my fingers and kinda play with it until I'm content to throw it away.

I like to tear at substrates sometimes when I dispose of them.
There is a huge difference between a spent substrate and one that you trashed too soon.
Contaminated sections crumble easily while the rest is strong early on.

I've noticed this.  The only time I get to really fuck with them is while throwing them out.  Gladly I don't get too much of the "uh oh, bit too squishy" parts anymore.

All this coming from a guy who's gonna school us by isolating a culture from an undiluted inoculation, all done  in 3 transfers. Don't forget, he's documenting it.

I just can't help messing with stuff. I was there rubbing my hands across the substrate grinning like an idiot. I know I shouldn't but once I get the urge it eats away at me until I do. It's such an amazing feeling until the regret settles in of course which it always does like clockwork. I'll have some edibles on blocks or logs colonizing and pick them up daily, roll them about on the ground for no fucking reason. When I first started I couldn't stop myself from shaking grain jars.. I would pick them up every few minutes, the desire would build up and up until I could resist no longer and shake them, often less than 24 hours apart.

I made up some grain yesterday, using straight millet for the first time. Got the urge to take the lid off to have a better look. It's just grain in a clear mason jar . Took the lid off in open air.. "yup, thats grain" :facepalm3:
