Gnarly blob on top of cake

Hey guys - first time grower here, and first post on this forum as well. I've been using the cake method, growing the Colombian strain and have some really intense / gnarly growth happening on the top of one of my cakes. The interesting thing is most of my other cakes are barely pinning, but this growth has been happening rapidly on this single cake.

Couple questions:
1. Is it safe to eat? Should I be worried? 2. If it is safe to eat, when should I harvest this from the cake itself?
I did use lysol to clean the tub before using it - which may have caused this mutation.
Any insights on this would be super helpful! After reading through various posts, I'm thinking it's either related to the lysol, is just a fungus blob that should be good to eat, or is verticillium and so probably shouldn't eat them? Thanks for any help!

I don't know about the Lysol but it could be a mixture of a wired ass mutant mixed with some bacteria and less than optimal fruiting conditions. Let's wait for someone that knows their shit to correct me and say what's actually up, but that's my 2ยข

ahhh, yea the fruiting conditions i definitely may have messed that one up. decided not to do shotgun, and just kept it in a tub and aired it out 2-3 times a day with some spray.
Feels a bit sad that my first batch is not looking too promising. Been thinking maybe I should move the cakes into a mason jar or 2 liter bottle and fruit separately? I only had 3 cakes out of 6 get through the mycelium phase, so really hope i can have at least 2 cakes succeed.

You can definitely tell lack of FAE and one of the pins are pointing down so not enough light on top... what happened to the other 3 cakes?

My guess is the other 3 either didn't get enough spores during inoculation, or something? The jars just showed no signs of mycelium, so eventually just chucked them in case there was bacteria inside.
Do you know if these are safe to eat? Should I just throw them out to be safe? Is the cake salvageable, or is it pretty much done?

the lysol has nothing to do with it. it's likely just a mutant.
did you let the jar consolidate for ayt least a week after it hit 100% colonization? if not, that can cause some blobbing. also, you need to move them into a proper SGFC. the conditions do appear to be rather poor. converting the tub they are in into a SGFC will help with that.
as for whether it's safe to eat or not, the answer is yes. mutants/blobs are fine to eat.
it doesnt look like it has vert or anything like that. just looks like it needs better care.

So yea, building SGFC right now. Sigh, unfortunately I had to leave for a couple days and couldn't do it right away (definitely making some mistakes on this first attempt).
So after I came back, it appears the first batch that was growing rapidly dropped their spores, and also many of them now have some green / blueish tint on it (maybe bruising I think?)
Posting some pictures - are these still safe to eat? I started drying them neways. IS it one of those better safe than sorry just throw them out situations, or are they okay and I'm just paranoid?
I believe they were fully colonized, but I'm not sure. I left them about 1 week after they had spread throughout the entire jar.

Thanks for the insight everyone. Super helpful for a first timer!

yeah, black is spores, like you said, and blue is bruising. they are fine to eat.
