Keeping it simple...

I've recently read a complex substrate is better than a simple one and ," If you want to grow monsters, use 5% composted chicken manure by volume (RR)" and I've read that rice bran can cause huge Shiitakes (RR). On the contrary I also read that cubes, which is what Im interested in, is a primary decomposer and prefers uncomposted substrates. I'm confused as to when people say certain bulk substrate additions cause bigger mushrooms and rapid growth and others say keep it simple for the same results. Where is the line drawn between adding additional nutrients and keeping it simple?

Also, "for a massive one flush wonder, use low spawn ratio with wheat, oat, or rice bran for the mycelium to load up on nutrients."

I think I literally told you yesterday that different genetics prefer different things. It isn't like oh yeah this poo substrate is the best for all genetics.

It really is all dependent on the genetics and what they prefer. Essentially with anything try them on everything, see what's best and cater to that genetics specific needs. Some genetics actually prefer casings and will pump out epic yields with it, while others don't. It's really cool to see it pan out.

What it means is try your genetics on everything. Compare what it does better with, and grow out your specific genetics catering to what it likes. No 2 genetics will ever be the same, and when you take many clones, you'll see they all have different tastes.
You need to learn how to use the search function like a boss. Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words.

Lots of people complain the search function sucks, and gives outdated info. Try clicking the 2 pics above this!
