The fresh Psilocybe Pelliculosa tasted like fir trees, but the dried ones tasted salty. Very salty. Does anyone know where this taste came from?

They may have touched desiccant. Stuff like damprid turns into a liquid that's edible but extremely salty.

I just cranked the heat and dried them on plastic bags.

I just noticed the same thing. Fresh ones were not salty. Dried out a nice batch in the sun all day. Just had a big mouthful and they were very salty. No salt or desiccant of any type got near them.

Have had similar taste happen with cubensis grown pf tek style when dried, I imagine maybe a little bit of verm on the base? my best guess. If you picked yours wild I have no clue.

I see you guys kind of avoid this topic, but could it be a bacterial infection during the drying process?

unlikely.
you gotta think that mushrooms act like a big sponge. They collect from their environment like any other living thing. So there is a possibility that in the woods there was something that got leached up and left behind a little sodium crystal during absorption.
maybe

Some of my picks were infested with insects. I washed them in my bathtub and then dried them overnight. The fresh ones I ate I ate insects. I ate a strainer packed with fresh ones once. I got the idea from the Shroomery! I figure it was around the equivalent of eating over half an ounce of really potent cubensis. Lately I've been experimenting with microdoses of LSD and light trips. I have a blotter I chop a tiny piece off of for microdosing. LSD is an interesting trip and that's why I bought a sheet. I'm actually burned out on high dose tripping for now. I quit cannabis. I'm all set.

That doesn't explain why they don't taste salty when fresh. The bacteria thing makes sense however. Also drying them in hot plastic bags without desiccant? What? That's a good way to grow bacteria probably

Guess it depends on where you are from and the weather conditions and all that, not to mention personal drying habits. Overnight? I wish... I have tried drying cubes with fans blowing on them inside and it would take a week to dry that way and probably not be fully dry. So I purchased a food dehydrator and I never looked back.

How did you dry them? I don't understand. You just put them on top of plastic bags with fans on them?

I cranked the heat up to 90 F and closed the door. No fans. These shrooms didn't have thick caps or stems. They were dry by the next morning. I had to peel them off the plastic.

I don't know, that could have caused bacteria. 90F, humid, stagnant air, that is ideal for bacteria to grow.

I would say from the sweaty choda of some greasy wook who probably hitches around with drugs hidden all over him and in every orifice of his body.
