Hello all, I am currently on my third bulk grow and yet to come across any contams.....knock on wood.....I know its inevitable, but I just try to be as extremely careful and as clean as possible . I just started fruiting and when I opened the lid to prepare for fruiting, I saw something I certainly did not want to see . I'm not sure what it is, but I do know it doesn't belong there. I would sure appreciate some guidance as to what this is. It seems to be mainly in the corners and a bit on the outer edges. I'm hoping that the myc. will over power whatever this is and come out on top!!!
I took about 7 or 8 pics but these are the only ones that turned out good.
one.

two.

three.

four.

any feedback is welcomed and appreciated, as like us all, I am still learning. thnx

Looks like metabolites. Could be coming from a variety of reasons, too warm, inadequate fae, it even could be fighting off contams

I had the same thing, was too much water and not enough FAE, seems to be metabolites. I couldn't get my conditions right before I used a martha and those sections turned quite dense and only pinned after everything else did.

Ok, thank you very much for your replies. I have noticed that the myc. Is growing much, much denser (and of course whiter) than the rest of the tub. When you mention too much water, you are referring to the moisture content of the sub right? Cuz I barely ever fan/mist so it's definitely not from that. This does make sense as while I was preppin my sub l was having issues with obtaining the correct field capacity. I was tying to tweak my recipe and ended up with too much water. I added more verm twice, but I guess that was still not sufficient enough, must of still been too damp. So you think I can still expect the sub to fruit in these areas? Just a little later than the rest? I kinda figured this, as I can see the myc. Building up and becoming much, much denser. I figured this was the myc. defense mechanism trying to fight off whatever it is that is causing this issue/discoloration
Also, because of this moisture issue, should I NOT dunk my sub before my second flush?

It's not metabolites. Your tub is dry and getting drier. That yellowing is a telltale sign, and you have no surface condensation. Give it a mist, dial the bottom holes in tighter and kill any fans or shut the vents if your AC is running a lot. You are going to have a shitty pinset if you don't get conditions up to snuff soon.
