Mushrooms growing on the sides and bottom of bag

Hey folks! I'm coming up on my very first harvest (cubensis). I have a problem. When my mycelium was growing in my rye, it stalled out and started pinning before I transferred it to the substrate. As a result, a lot of the pins formed on the sides and bottom of my bags. As a result, I've got mushrooms coming in all over the damn place. I'm wondering, will I be able to harvest those in the bottom of the bag alright? Can I pull the substrate from the bag, harvest, and then replace it without issue?

Yes you can pick them. You probably wont get a 2nd flush out of a bag anyways, so there's really no need to even put it back in.

A bag isn't any less likely to produce additional flushes than anything else..

That's going to be a pain in the ass to get back in at the least with that casing layer. Good luck and congrats on your grow!

The mushrooms totally grew where conditions were best though so... I would start looking at using actual fruiting chambers.

I definitely will. I've just ordered materials for my next grow, so I should be able to start that in the next week, most likely with a mono tub setup. Learned lot in this first run!

Good to hear! A little success at first is better than none at all. Not a bad bag grow by any means. It's like hopping stones in a river..gets easier after you get your feet wet a few times.

You can always transfer to a tray / fruiting chamber. Your colony shouldn't die for a few months, unless something bad happens.
It will have to burn some time and energy reknitting. Although, sometimes damage actually triggers another quick fruiting phase

It might be worthwhile to make a sgfc to finish fruiting 2nd flush in.

BioShock Infinite WAS a weird fucking game.
Since it will be some time before I transfer my next grow into the tubs, I might just use one of the ones I picked up tonight instead of trying to dump back into the bag. That sounds so much easier, haha. Thank for the advice!
Out of curiosity, should I expect pins to form in the same areas that they formed for this first flush, or will they form in new locations after reknitting?

They grow where conditions are right so if you don't get it dialed in right yes. They will fruit in the same spot. Unless you fix the conditions

One more question: I'm going to transfer into a mono tub setup for a (hopeful) second flush, but I've currently moved the sub out of the bag and into the chamber to give the first flush room to grow so that, with any luck, I don't end up with a bunch of shrimpy shrooms. After I harvest this flush, should I break up the sub before soaking so that it has more ideal conditions to pin? Or will that damage the mycelium beyond repair?
