I've got some great clusters coming off of the corn cob pellets. I'll post pics tomorrow. I think I'm going to use a mixture of wood, bran and corn cob as my sub from now on. Straw is a pain (literally, I threw my back out lifting the wet crap) and tends to smell up the place once and a while.

Here's the clusters. I messed up fruiting by trying to switch bags and such, so it over pinned a bit. The color is completely different than straw grown. They're almost blue. I'll update with cap formation as they go.

Whoa; Beautiful blue! I'd say they're enjoying the sub. Nice experimenting, chefjrd!

Thanks all! I'm concerned the caps won't be large with the stem size that's formed already. I've got plenty of fae as my other oysters are doing great. I'll keep it updated. I really can't believe how blue they are.

My blues look like that when they pin. When harvest comes they are almost white. Wish they would keep the blue , maybe when it cools off.

Update! Here's a pic of what I harvested from the corn cob block.
And this is the cc cluster on the right compared to straw with some cc mixed in.
First flush from the cc weighs 14.85 oz. Not too bad. I wish they weren't as stemmy. I've got supplemented blocks going with 45% cc 40% wood and 15% supplement.

I just found I missed a cluster that was on the sawdust that got mixed into the rest of the crop. It brings the total weight to just over a pound
