**Science brings me here. I want to progress in life**

Hi guys and girls
Going to keep this REALLY brief because I want to learn from you rather then you read about me.
Why am I here?
Increasing studies showing benefits of psilocybin on the brain function. In particular challenging past thinking patterns.
How long have I been following this?
Years - 4 years +
Why am I interested?
Anxious state that has led to gambling problem.
Drug history
2-3 years of heavy smoking of skunk and 18 years of drinking. No skunk in 14 years
Questions:
- I want my first trip to be as 'natural as possible'. What mushrooms would you suggest? Is there a difference between home grown and 'field' in terms of content or trip type?
- If home grown, where would you buy and what? UK resident
Thank you.
This may appear cold, however I am happy to divulge any details about myself and reasons. I really want a renaissance of my mind to move beyond my current rut. For that to happen I need some 'reality'.
I am not entering this lightly, I am more than scared. But studies have shown amazing benefits and for me, I need to do all I can (within reason) to reconnect with the world around me.

Well if you want a renaissance on your consciousness and awareness then you are definitely on the right path, especially choosing psilocybin. I haven't tried all of the classic psychedelics yet but so far psilocybin is my favorite and most beautiful.
I'm not gonna suggest a certain type of mushroom because you're just gonna get what you're gonna get. Here in America it's mostly cubensis being used and that may be the same for the UK but I believe they have a fair amount of semilanceatas there and that's where they're native to, Europe. Potency can very though and you can get a weak or really potent version of any species, as for getting them from the wild I have heard mixed things. Some people saying they're not as strong as home grown and some say they're the same. I personally only fuck with homegrown ones and you get those from drug dealers. You can grow them yourself too.
Fuck the species or "type" of mushroom though because potency/dose plus set and setting are the most important by far as well as your intent. Set and setting will always be the most important above all though because psychedelics are only safe when the set and setting are appropriate.

You've been at this awhile, so make a further commitment of time and energy and grow your own. Start with the cultivation forum and explain what you want to do and why. The only thing comparable to growing your own is picking wild, only it hasn't got the potential paranoia.
Grow any of the popular strains of cubensis to start with, it will be a while before you notice any sort of difference or desire to cultivate other species, but the advantage is you'll have an unlimited supply to work with at almost no cost, and you'll acquire worthwhile skills in the process as well as a deep appreciation for the mushrooms.

I agree with growing your own... My first trip on my homegrown I relived the life of one of my shrooms- could even see and feel my human self spraying me with water etc. It was a truly beautiful experience!
You only live once so go for it. The sooner you start the sooner you trip balls. Oh and don't dilly dally- jump in with minimum 4g dried or equivalent wet...

Thanks for the replies.
Very happy to commit to growing my own mushrooms, I just want the experience to be a 'natural' as possible. Presumably the grow kits are mushrooms as you would find in the wild and contain the same psychoactive ingredients as mother nature intended?
I have researched and researched the 'benefits' and have watched every ted talk, psychedelic conference available on the internet.
Now I am at the 'coal face'.
I have set up a spare room. I am going to play beta music and I am going to be alone.
I expect a scary trip as I expect to face some crap from my past. This is ultimately why I am doing this.
People I respect have grown from their experience. At 34 I really want to embrace the mushroom, learn and then make the required changes.
Dr Robin Carhart - harris believe in major progress with 2g, so that is what I will take. Again, not looking for another world, just an education and redirection.
Is this a sound approach?

I find lower doses to be problematic - the ego hangs in there causing disharmony and a bad trip. Each to their own but I always come back wishing I'd done more no matter how much I dosed
