re-innoculation?? possible reuse
    #2345873 - 02/17/04 03:24 PM (14 years, 2 months ago)

hi i innoculated 12 jars 2 weeksago and i dont see any sighns of life and i have a feeling the spores were no good. the jars were pressure cooked and sterilized before i innoculated and are sterile so do you think i would be able to simply boil the jars in a inch of water for like 20 mins to re-sterilize then innoculate again with a better syringe? could i reuse the same substrate as long as nothing ever grew in it?

What if the problem was in your substrait, then it will fail again. I would just go ahead and re-do everything... why take the chance...

Chances are if you boiled them you didn't sterilize them in the first place. If you don't have a pressure cooker, I'd suggest mycobags.

if the jars are sterile u could innoculate again no need to boil the jars again. afoaf boiled a few jars and 2 of them had no growth and he innoculated the jars again and they showed growth. just make sure everything is sterile and shake up your syringes good.

Ya, I'd go for it. ^^^^ In fact, I have gone for it.
Just don't invest all of your spores.

Shake, shake, shake...
