Glass in a PC
    #23458542 - 07/20/16 06:04 AM (7 years, 6 months ago)

Hi all,

My PC didn't come with a rack for the bottom of the pressure cooker, the glasses I'm going to use are quite thick, I have seen some videos of people pacing the glasses straight into it with no rack, does anyone have any experience with this?

Bad for the jars no matter how thick. Put some old silverware or balls of foil or even the rings for Mason jar lids in the bottom til you find a trivet that fits

:whathesaid: layer the bottom with mason jar rings.

Even though mine came with a rack, I have to raise it higher with rings when I do agar.

BOD's Simple as FUCK Still Air Box
PastyWhyte's Easy Agar Tek
Munchauzen's Cultivation Video Series
How EvilMushroom666 Prepares His Grains (I use jars with Synthetic Filter Discs)
What is G2G? (Grain-to-Grain)
Damion5050's Coir Tek (I use 5.5 - 6 quarts of water instead of 4. Also ignore step 13 and ignore the monotub completely. The only purpose of this tek is to show you how to make a simple substrate. I also add gypsum to it but not necessary)
Spitball's Monotub Tek (A liner isn't necessary but is useful)
Use 6500k lights throughout the whole process. When you wake up, turn the light on. When you go to sleep turn the light off. It's as simple as that.

Thanks for the info, good idea, also is it important for the water not to touch the jars/glasses, the minimum water line is quite high

Water can go half way up the jars on the first level(if you can even stack jars)

Steam is what is actually doing the sterilization not the water but as long as 50+ % of your jar is above you're fine

You should definitely try to buy a rack, putting shit below jars is annoying. For now, a folded tablecloth should be fine though.

My presto submerges my jars a little over half way with water. I fill it maybe a centimetre below the bottom line for a 2hr15m cycle. There isn't much water left after the cycle.

If you can't find a rack you can make your own for cheap, check for the cheap round metal baking pans. You can cut them to shape with tin snips, drill holes in them and put canning rings under them so everything sits perfectly level and off the bottom.

may I ask why?
I put them directly into the pressure cooker because if I would use my rack only 3 jars would fit, without I can do 4.

I add about 1/3 of the jars height water with a little lemon juice and have never had problems with the jars, have reused them a lot and they still don't break easily or have any cracks...

That's because your jars are still new. If you keep doing that, they will start breaking after a while. The bottom gets too hot. Even new jars will crack if they have imperfections, I've had it happen. Or even if you bump it and it has some microscopic crack, putting a jar like that at the bottom of your PC without a rack is just asking for trouble.

A ceramic plate works very well too.  Upside down or right side up.  Depending on how it all fits.

I use smaller ones to slip down the sides to keep everything from moving.

Jar rings in between.  Towels can work too for some spots

I don't elevate my jars anymore than the rack does or else I can only fit 7 jars instead of 9. I remember when the presto looked like the biggest thing ever, now it feels fucking tiny.
