Weird food combos you made yourself 2

Today I ran out of sugar for my coffee. I didn't feel like going out and I didn't feel like drinking it black. So I started thinking, what is sweet that could replace sugar?
I'm not a big fan of sweets, so I didn't have the usual things such as syrup or Quik or honey... I had to get creative. What has a sweet taste?
After looking through everything I ended up on some BBQ rib sauce! I put a few squirts in there and voila! I ruined my coffee, I threw it out and had another cup. Black.
What combos have you tried. Did they work?

Sometimes when I'm low on foods that go well with each other I go by the macros with no regard to how any of the meal components correspond taste-wise to one another
Example - pack of tuna, throw in leftover fried rice, throw peanuts in the mix

Why in the hell would you even think coffee and bbq sauce would go together? I don't even need to try that to know how nasty it would be Btw, the next time you're out of sugar if you're looking to cut the bitterness of the coffee, use a pinch or two of salt.
One time when I was barred out I started eating tortilla chips and vanilla pudding, like using the pudding as a dip. It was really good when I was barred out, my wife thought it was disgusting. One of my favorite breakfast foods is taking biscuits and putting butter/jelly on them and putting a sausage patty in the middle. It was something I picked up when I was locked up. I also like syrup on my sausage/bacon. As a kid I used to put ketchup on my toast with breakfast. That's the only things that really comes to mind. I don't mix weird shit very often.

Not a prepped food, but just a combination of flavors I happened upon after leaving the grocery store one day
Dehydrated beet chips, roasted unsalted peanuts, fresh cilantro and an uncured bacon epic bar.

didnt see that coming!
I once had tacos with pickles in them. I thought it was weird, but it tastes really good thou. Dont get flavored pickles, just the dill kosher is best.
I also mixed 50/50 pesto with mariana tomato sauce for noodles. It was actually really good. Adds a new twist to italian pastas!
Also, for dessert i put toaster Eggo waffles with vanilla ice cream on top with blackberry surup on top. so goooooood.

Bananas and molten cheese Back in my hardcore stoner days, sandwiches made with those sandwichmaker appliances (I believe that's not the proper english term but I don't know how you call them or if they even exist in America) with banana slices, cheese and a little bit of chili were one of my staple foods.

I don't make any weird food combos myself but my sister used to make chicken ramen noodles with butter, hot sauce and ranch. She also does stuff like puts ketchup on scrambled eggs, mayo on banana sandwiches and peanut butter on strawberries.
I used to make a spring roll dip from a sweet marinade with mango and pineapples and add sriracha sauce to it

But it's just making a pesto sauce a touch spicier.
Adding hot sauce to anything just gives food a necessary kick that it mightn't have already had.

I ate pickles and nacho cheese when I was pregnant... I'm not proud.
Nor am I proud of stealing the rest of the rotisserie chicken from the family Easter picnic during that time... I got caught, pictures were taken.

There is actually a drink that people make with coffee, butter, coconut milk, it's supposed to be great for energy because of all the fats in it, sounds gross though.
My bro told me about some buttered coffee he had once, sounded nasty.
Give me black coffee all day, I like the taste of it, girly coffee full of sweeteners/cream can suck a fat one.

the dark meat is good. same for turkey. the white meat....not so much
do you eat eggs? chicken or other?
why fish/seafood? that's the worst of it all. granted, i enjoy fish (and the occasional crab/scallop/squid/octopus), but as far as contamination goes, it's by far the worst

Nah I just got out of shitty food city. Out of the 7 county jail I've been in, that was hands down the worst meals ever.
Their commissary was epic though, and you could spend as much as you wanted, no cap off like most counties.
One place I had to stay in a couple days Gave me a menu to a local diner for every meal. It was fucking awesome. I could've lived at that county without ever complaining. Just couldnt go over 10 bucks on my order each meal.

a menu? a fucking menu? are you shitting me? were you able to put money on your books, yourself, or did someone else have to do it? what was their daily fee?
where i was, the food was disgusting; the water had so much shit in it (presumably some form calcium, which created a swirling effect, as well as floating sediment.) granted, i have nothing to compare it to besides elementary/middle school cafeteria food.

I try as hard as possible to not hydrate myself in jails. There is so much calcium and whatever else in there. It's fucking terrible. I pretty much only had one cup of water a day, drank their shitty juice, and one cup of insta coffee a day.
The place I was at with a menu wasn't a county jail, it was a small cities jail. They straight slid a menu under your door and you got to order whatever you wanted if it was under 10 bucks. Burger fries and a can of coke 8.99
That was just a jail that would hold you until one of the cops felt like taking you to county, or if the county was overflowed. You never spent more than a week in it from my understanding.
The commissary at this recent county though, holy shit man. Breaks weren't even necessary. You could order like a half lb of pepperoni or salami, 4 different kinds of bagels, 6 oz bags of coffee, different kinds of cheese, I mean if you came in with enough, or your friends and family had enough to keep your books stacked, you would gain so much weight with that kinda commissary. But I think they made their food 10x worse than most counties on purpose. Like I have seen sweat meat and nutra loaf all over, but never like at this place. Fucking worst beans I have ever had, and that's saying a lot.

one long-termer i talked with said he didn't drink the water unless absolutely necessary for health reasons. a kid i talked with, who had been in and out multiple times for small violations, said every time he got out, he had kidney stones. considering there's little to no sugar, and no soft drinks, the water and its mineral contents are the only viable culprit

Ya I had good toothpaste, and I would notice plaque build up within hours.
Like I would brush my teeth after meds and breakfast, and before lunch have to brush them again. Like 5-6 times a day.
When I was in a correction center for my felonies, the drinking fountains there had so much mineral deposits you couldn't scrub off it no matter how hard you tried.
I was even in a county once, where our pod pissed off the CO so bad, they shut off the entire water to our pod. You had one flush....then an empty toilet....and nothing came out of the fountains in your cell. 2 men locked in a bathroom, no one poops!
It's crazy what we do to people....and damn other countries for doing......our own rip us from or domiciles, sometimes electrocute or shock us before masochistically restraining us while they wear a huge batman esq suit of pain, stuff us in a car, take us to a foreign area, lock us in a concrete room alone until they find out where we are best suited.....to then eat 1200 calories of shitty carbs and rotten "meat" to be locked in a bathroom alone with another man, and forced to shower in front of other males and police.
It's barbaric. Anyone who thinks otherwise hasn't been in cuffs or done more than a night in jail to really process the what the fuck of the whole situation.
And then to be a CO??? You are getting paid shit wages to dog sit vicious hounds, and put in a jail yourself.....none of it makes sense on the poverty level......only the rich.

I think a weird food combination is when people combine cheese with seafood.
Lobster mac and cheese? An abomination.

I used to mix PB and syrup and then dip bread in it, rolled up bologna with mustard and pickles, ketchup with salt in it and dip regular ruffles in it, mix ranch and itallian dressing on salads, pb and dill pickle sands....

My son goes to mcdonalds, gets the pancakes, and loads them up with ketchup. gross

Marmite and peanut butter. Its very delicious but it feels wrong

tinned tuna in oil or own "juice" put into tomato sauce and served with spaghetti and lots of cheese on it (if done correctly you can wind up a whole portion one the fork). If you ever come to germany or france try out "peanut flips" [some salted mix of corn and wheat flour with crushed peanut pieces in it fried to beanlike chunks (heard from an american friend they aren't known of in the us)]with Nutella (walnut-chocolate cream) and banana.

It's funny, because Italians would faint if they knew you were finishing off a plate of fish pasta with parmiggiano.
I just don't think cheese is a good pairing with fish, because cheese is too bold of a flavor, and masks the flavor of seafood. Basically just tastes like you're eating cheese, not really fish or shellfish.
I have never once eaten a crab rangoon and thought, "Hey, the crab in here is delicious," I've always thought, "This just tastes like I'm eating fried cream cheese."
Same with lobster mac and cheese. Like yeah it's good, but, where's the flavor of the lobster? All I'm getting is the texture.
It just goes better with different flavor profiles. I think acidic flavors go better with seafood, things like lime, ponzu, wine reduction, tomato, salsa, etc. A good bouillabaisse or white wine reduction or just eaten raw with lemon and wasabi and soy sauce is the proper way to enjoy seafood.

I tend to agree, although it CAN work. Parmesan crusted fish, for example.

Speaking of McDonalds, i made up a simple combo: hot French fries and a vanilla sunday. Dip your fries into that cold ice cream. Sweet, salty, hot and creamy. mmmmm, sounds so dirty but sooooo goood.

Well thats why this tread is about wierd foods and not bout "nouvelle cuisine". About the fainting italians, probably a cook woud do so but some old italian grandma, if not coming from the italian bourgeoisie would faint about very little because the traditional italian kitchen is indeed much about improvisation and concealing deficiency.

Wouldn't all modern Italians be considered from the "bourgeoise?" Bourgeoise means middle-class.
I won't say ALL cheese is bad, I've had some types of cheese that were just fine in a raw sashimi crudo or carpaccio. But it has to be the right kind of cheese, and not too much just a sliver, so it doesn't overpower the flavor of the fish.

Mm I prefer doing that with Wendy's fries & chocolate frosty. On point. Also not really super weird but called the McStoner by my friends you get two rodeo burgers (burger with cheese BBQ and onion rings) and a chicken burger and make alternating triple burger. One of my favorite combos people think is odd is sweet baby rays BBQ (has to be) with cheddar cheese and Ritz crackers. Mm.

Oh and I dip my chicken nugs first in BBQ then dip the BBQ covered chicken in ranch for the perfect creamy tangy combo. Yum.
Oh but not McDonalds. Their nugs are weird and get dipped in straight honey.

Damn, you must have had some shitty preparations to where you could only taste cheese. With cheese, I always use sparingly, I am not a huge fan of it, but I do enjoy it with some things, and find small amounts can add nice flavors to food, many people overdo it though.
I have lactose issues, so don't fuck with cheese the long way.
Anyway, last weird combo I made for myself was an apple with sriracha.

While I would agree, acidic flavors definitely pair very well with seafood I wouldn't say that cheese can't be amazing, when used correctly. A nice encrusted fish with parmasean mm. Salmon or cod parmasean... Oh and I love crab ragoons from this local Chinese place omg so good.

Next time try a pinch of salt in there. Apparently it tricks your mind to thinking it's sweet.
I like to put doritos and pickles on my meatball subs and I put ketchup on thangs like eggs and mac. I dont really put stuff together weird but I do eat weird stuff together on a plate sometimes.

Not really, I've even had a lobster mac and cheese at Butcher & Singer, which is a steakhouse that is priced between $50 to $90 for a steak. When you put lobster in a dish that cheesy, of course it's going to taste just like cheese. I mean, lobster and seafood itself already has a mild taste.
I've had grated cheese in some sashimi crudo dishes that were quite good... but the cheese portion was less than 1/20th of the portion of fish. So the cheese complimented it, without overpowering the flavor of the scallops.

That would work too. It's all about the contrast in flavor & how they compliment each other. That, and sandwiches that crunch > sandwiches that don't crunch.

Sweet Jesus, how high were you when you decided that was an option?
Completely sober. I was eating pb sandwiches everyday, and was getting tired of it. Saw Doritos in the vending machine at work, and the rest is history.
And here I was thinking everyone who got blazed put doritoes in their pb/pbj sandwiches.

Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Psalm 12:6 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. Revelation 3:11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.
