Tripping when you're OLD

What's it like for an old person to trip? Will you still trip? Do you know any psychedelic seniors? Is there anyone here in their 70's, 80's and beyond reading these threads? If you were in your 20's in the early 1960's when LSD was still legal, then you would be in your late 70's now. Do you still trip? What's it like?

My dad lived to 91 and he was in a retirement community for his last few years. I used to go visit him and I'd look at all these elderly people, and I'd do the math. These people, on average, were in their 70's - 90's which would put them in their 20's - 40's during the mid/late 1960's. Out of like 3,000 residents there must have been a bunch who were hippies in their time. You'd never know from looking at them... lol. A ponytail might be a tip off.. I don't recall seeing any.
They had clubs - poker club, model trains, political discussions, why not a psychedelics club? Never saw it listed in the directory. I always thought it would be cool to survey them and find out who the hippies were. I'd like to ask them their thoughts on psychedelic therapy for chronically ill people. Too late now.. dad's dead and I'll probably never go back to that place.

I don't quite get your math....If you were 20 in 1968....You would be 68 yrs. old now....not so bad. One thing I will say as a 57 yr. old is that mushrooms seem to be a little harder on me physically then they used to be. I think, like many things in life....it has to do with how well you take care of your body.

The math is fine. To the other extreme, Someone who was 45 in 1965, (in your 40's during the mid/late 60's) would be 96 now. We're talking a range of years here.

Why not? Unless they've had a stroke or something like that, most old people remember their youth like it was yesterday. It's yesterday they can't remember!

Are you dense? They're dying. The average life expectancy is in the seventies. That's how old they are. They are dead or dying right now. They're not going to make to the point in the future at which the average life expectancy is above 90, because they're already at the end of their lives right now.

why the hostility? In Canada anyway average life expectancy is in the 80s, and most people in my family make it to their 90s (two have made it past 100)
mostly they stay sharp until mid to late 80s and then there is a sharp decline

I never tried bingo. the again, I am interested in other stuff like art, javascript, rollerblading LSD, etc. actually my friends - ranging from 30 to past 75 are all pretty interesting and none have been near a bingo thing, or hall or whatever.

My first (completely over-the-top) LSD experience was age 17. The aftermath of that is set down in the interview I did with LearyFan back in 2013. Up till then I'd smoked pot, and had mushrooms a time or two.
Whether the trend in your enjoyment of the psychedelic headspace continues is uncertain. There will come times and phases in your life in which responsibilities will alter your attitude and your opportunity...but whose to say. Not to mention, there may be a sentinal "psychedelic event" in your future that changes EVERYTHING in an unanticipated way.
