I can trace my family name back 11 generations to Lancashire England 1600s. My 5th great grandfather fought in the revolutionary war. My 4th great grandfather helped establish mormonism with joseph smith in missouri/illinois, then pioneered with brigham young to salt lake city. Many of the cities in northern utah were founded by my family.
I guess thats about it

All I really know is that my ancestors came to America from Wales because they were criminals. Changed our last name when they came too. Dunno when or what exactly they did, it's only a faint memory, I know the context I was told it in, it was something pretty bad
Supposedly I'm related to Bonnie and Clyde somehow.. Dunno how, my brother is the one that found out. I can't remember which we're supposed to be related to or how. I kinda just chalked it up to being bullshit and didn't pay much attention when he was explaining it but he seemed to be pretty convinced that it was legit.
My family is a very loose knit family and that goes back generations so there's not really an emphasis on keeping up with our roots, but I've always wondered about where I actually come from.

No famous relatives I know of, long history of criminality and shiftiness on my Australian side, and a long history of learn-edness, writing and intellectual type pursuits on the Irish side, despite being working class
my great grandfather fought under Lawrence of Arabia though, raiding railways and killing train guards, dad's got a silver watch supposedly taken off of a dead Turk, we looked it up and it was a specific model of pocket watch issued to Turk train guards, so his story is at least partly true ha (never trust aussies)

I thought the same. I became interested a few days ago and started digging around. Turns out its pretty well documented. I was surprised. My 5th great grandfather bought several hundred acres of land in kentucky around late 1700s, and I discovered its still owned by ancestors of the family. Theres even a family cemetery. Makes me wanna go visit. Find my animal spirit.

My last name comes from a former king of France, I'm related to Ralph Waldo Emerson.
I feel like my mom and dad are way cooler then those losers. My dad is a Vietnam era Vet that tested so high on his aptitude test and excelled so well they offered him any job he wanted and he picked air traffic controller in Germany. One out of very few stationed there during the Vietnam war because most people don't realize we were having a battle of technologies still from the Cold War. He said he'd control hundreds of fighter jets at a time. After that he was L.A.P.D, after that he was head of security for Stephen Speilberg,John Williams and Kathleen Kennedy.Actually through that Hillary Clinton held me as a baby while she was talking to Stephen Speilberg,I don't care for that shit at all now. Used to be a fun fact. He was owner of a Fortune 500 hundred company. His partner embezzled and stole all his money. He started doing top secret work and was exposed to lethal chemicals because of the lack of government safety suits. (that was filed in court so I know I can say that). He never saw a dime and he's still terminally ill.
My mom traveled the world was all the famous people you can think of and for 3 years straight with Jerry Lee Lewis She worked in the stunt industry and has a list of all the people she's worked with. Every single one of them is very famous. Some of the more Noteable ones would be Richard Dreyfus,Tony Blair,Gene Simmons,Hugh Hefner(not a playboy bunny but had an honorary place there) Lou ferigno,Bob Hope at one time. There's over 100 just as famous but I don't have the rest right now. She also dated robin from the original batman and robin. After that she had cancer twice and worked armed security.
Since a year or two after my birth neither of them has seen celebrities but they were and are amazing parents now. Still though, I doubt I'll have that star studded successful life like that. I think I'll do well but that's a tough order to fill.

There's a story, it goes back a few hundred years.
Not something I want to leave as public record on here though.
I've been thinking, my family history is very detailed and at this stage my ethnicity is divided in 3. If I have kids with a woman who isn't part of one of those ethnicities, those kids will essentially be too mixed up to be able to really relate to anything. 3 is already pushing things big time. They won't be anything...
Now I have to consider how important that is to me, hundreds of years of history in a coherent line. Its certainly not something I would want to miss out on, but its also not something I consider at all when meeting women. Guess if I ever have any kids, they're likely fucked.

OP, my lineage is surprisingly similar to yours. I have an aunt who is majorly into genealogy, and she's traced our English side back to the 13th century, in some podunk little British hamlet. She's worked on our German side, but due to difficulties in understanding records, can't get further back than the early 1800s.
I was once taking a history course, and in the text book I found a person of minor importance who I share a last name with, spelled the same (my last name, while not exactly super rare, is far from common, especially the spelling we use). I asked my mom about it, and she knew of the guy; he was my first "American" relative, arriving here with a supplement ship to the Mayflower in 1623. From then on, I've had relatives in the American Revolutionary War (my sister wants to join the Daughters of the American Revolution, because she's a dork), the American Civil War, and pretty much every war since. I found out that we had at least one slave owner in my family. Several war heroes, including some kind of distant marital connection to Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson. I have a relative who actively participated in Chicago's Haymarket Riots (there's a neat anecdotal story attached to that one). Just a bunch of fascinating men & women.
A couple years back my mother and aunt (the one who digs all this up) went over to England and stayed with family members that we're related to from at least 800 years ago. Learning this shit is cool.

Two of my ancestors were a white sugar cane plantation owners daughter and a black slave in Coronie, the Surinam. He got her pregnant, her dad was all about that and rushed her back to Frisia, Holland pregnant where she gave birth to a mixed son whom she raised with love but to shame of the family - that boy carried the bloodline from them to me across several generations.
So thats how the black got in me, on my mother's side.
My dad is a super european, I know from DNA testing, 10,000 years ago during the ice age his ancestors lived in whats now called Doggerland, the bottom of the North Sea (then dry cause of the glaciers) where they hunted friggin mammoths in the forests, When the water returned they colonized England, Scotland, Ireland, parts of Scandinavia, Holland, Belgium, Germany and Northern France.

I just recently found out that I've got a bit of European ancestry (my family is Nigerian).
About a month ago, my mother solemnly shared a story with me about my great, great grandmother. She was sold into slavery to the Caribbean and subsequently raped. She eventally made it back to Africa (was among the lucky few that were able to do so), but instead of being sent to Nigeria, she was sent to Sierra Leone. Upon her arrival, officials had asked her if she remembered her area of origin. Fortunately, she did, and was kindly sent back home (Enugu State, Nigeria).
I don't yet know what part of Europe those genes are from because I'm still saving up money to take a DNA test, but it certainly explains my light skin and the curl pattern of my hair.

It aligns with the facts. Stories in the family as well as civil records (birth, wedding, death).

My dad was adopted. I have Mexican blood from him enough to tan extremely well. So I can't really trace my lineage at all. My last name was his adopted families last name. They're nice to me but we're not blood. My dad's "mom" looked at me in disgust. Hi grandma. Oh OK then. We spoke 3 sentences to eachother and that was it. Wow she's a cunt. Tell me about it.

I've never had grand parents. My moms mom died young and my dad's dad died young I saw my first dead body at 5. My parents have been mad about it the people that would have cared died. My mom's dad and my dad's mom are terrible people. I felt bad just meeting them.

Ya it's traced back to all of me haha. My dad has tried to find out his last name or our ancestry as we're curious. But it isn't possible he's been trying for like I dunno 60 years. So my lineage is not known. Bummer I wanna find out I'm related to george Washington or some shit.

I'm descended from this dude:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niklaus_Leuenberger
Quote:
Niklaus Leuenberger (c. 1615 – August 27, 1653) was a leader of the Swiss peasant war of 1653.
He signed the Treaty of Mellingen along with Christian Schybi on June 4, 1653.
After the defeat of the peasants at Herzogenbuchsee in the same month, he was delivered to the Bernese authorities. He was executed by decapitation and drawn and quartered on August 27. His head was nailed to the gallows, and the four parts of his body exhibited on the four highways out Bern.
In 1903, on the 250th anniversary of his death, a monument was erected to him in the Emmental municipality of Ruderswil.
I've never been to Switzerland

Geneology websites, mostly. I was reading my grandpas obituary and it mentioned his parents names. I looked them up and found more names. Theres a few missing people here and there, but there are so many entries and sources that its easy to piece it together. Googling names with years of birth or death will help narrow the search. Then I stumbled upon a kentucky historical society that links a few locations to my family name. I followed that up and managed to connect the dots from south carolina to virginia to england. I managed to find wills, slave appraisals, plantation sales..all kinds of shit

My grandfather and his father and mother (and possibly their fathers and mothers) were English colonists in Burma. The story as its told in the family is that they got the very last boat out (I'm not 100% sure what they were getting out from, but all the English colonists were leaving, and my family was on the very last boat that left). On the way back, the boat was going to make a stop in America. So they said that my family could either get off in America, or go all the way back to England. My family chose to get off in America and has been here ever since.
My mother's side is much more complicated because it winds through Texas and most of US history almost all the way back to the beginning.
However both my mother's family and my father's family lived in Northern California during the 40s and 50s, and so my parents met. Both sides of the family ultimately settled in California after being largely itinerant. As a result, to me that's the real beginning of my family's ancestry.

Shit I wish I could trace my lineage. Both my parents are total drifters. I have European blood mostly Polish and Irish from ma's side. All we've figured out about my dad's side is one of his parents were Mexican. As we tan incredibly well. it's all speculation it's a running joke.

I have a similar situation, my dad was also adopted. I know one of my real uncles who has told me my paternal grandmother is in the next city over, I've never been able to find her though. Supposedly my grandfather is native but I have no way to confirm that or even know his name or if he is still living... I've heard the stories of how everything went down but I'd like to think she made a huge mistake she learned from and would love to meet her.

Do you celebrate brown pride?
You ever call her a beaner when you fuck her? I hear some girls of other ethnic backgrounds, like to be called names like that when getting plowed by white men, no offense, just curious.

Is a "build up and a drop" like her riding you?
With the chick i was with i was fuggin her from the back and did the usual hair pulling but her weave came off. i swear i thought it was real. She was super submissive, extremely chill, and never bothered me or talked much. She'd just lay around and get stoned and if she was trying to get my attention it was by showing me porn. Which would give me an erection and then i'd pull her into the room.
She was a crafty little nympho.

No to the first question. And sorry, I'm not going to discuss our sex life, but I do sometimes refer to her as "guera", which is Hispanic slang for a light skinned Mexican girl. Which she is.

Not exactly, but she does have a big, floppy, girly straw hat, but it's no sombrero. But kinda.

Fuck lucky I wish I had a castle.
A family member told me that, and there is a Wiki page about it, but if I linked the page it would disclose to much personal information about me.
It's not a huge castle though, more like a dumpy pile of stones nowadays.

I just signed up on Ancestry.org and I could only get as far as my grandma's parents. I have an odd last name too. I guess Romania doesn't have records like that or they just aren't available. Is this what everyone else used to find their history?

Good deal. Keep those UV rays off of her and whatnot. I've been letting you know who wear my 100mph hat outside lately while I wear my Samurai hat.
I used to have a sweet sombrero that I bought in Jaurez, Mexico back in the day. Back when Juarez wasn't a bloody death zone.

Haha, samurai hat? I'm picturing a traditional helmet, the kind that Darth Vader's helmet was based on, but that can't be right.

I have literally never heard that, the only time I have heard anything remotely close to that is that apparently some white girls like to scream about niggers while they're getting plowed by a BBC

A China man broke rice with me and gave me the hat off his head.
I gave him the shoes off my feet.
Or else I found the hat. Woah there

Wow.. Im related to sergeant York.. I guess you and i are related. My last name should actually be York. My dad took his moms Hungarian last name instead of his fathers, because he was born before they married. Back then being a bastard was kinda a big deal. Lol
But I have heard and know for sure Sgt York visited my grandfather when he was in high school. I can't quite remember what the relation was, but it was close because he went out of his way to track my grandfather down..
I don't remember my grandfather. He died when I was 3. I'd ask my dad but we haven't exactly been on speaking terms for almost twenty years.
Shit... I should go outta my way to fix that before that chance is gone, come to think of it.

I love to dance haha. I always thought it would be super fun to partner dance. Like the fancy ones. Dancing with most girls is boring as fuck. I can tell your not going to be

I'm pretty much a mutt, German, French, Silician, Hungarian.
My mothers side is Sicilian. They're the side of my family I suppose I know most about, and my grandmothers childhood home is still standing in Sicily if I recall.
My dad's side is a bit more interesting, German Jews that owned castles and had some kind of nobility attached to the name. My great great great grandfather fell in love with a Catholic Maid and came to the US in the late 1800's, early 1900's, that side of the family has a composer I looked into a bit - I actually found letters he wrote to Martin Luther King Jr about writing a piece of music to his 'I have a Dream Speech' when I was researching this side of the family to try and find my dad a neat present. There is also an author, not really famous or anything, as he wrote mainly about fishing the atlantic coast and birdwatching and they're pretty niche/boring books, but I got my dad a copy of one for christmas because he's very into family history.
As far as the German castle owners, the trail runs cold. I'm assuming many died, converted and moved, or lost pretty much everything during the holocaust, unfortunately.
