Good movies/shows on Netflix?
    #23453473 - 07/18/16 04:16 PM (7 years, 6 months ago)

'The Fundamentals of Caring' keeps popping up on Netflix like it might be good so I figured I'd get your opinions while I get food ready and whatnot.

Any other good movies on Netflix? I usually just binge watch the shit out of That 70s' Show

--------------------
How to get started in bulk:
Presto 23-Quart Pressure Cooker
BOD's Simple as FUCK Still Air Box
PastyWhyte's Easy Agar Tek
Munchauzen's Cultivation Video Series
How EvilMushroom666 Prepares His Grains (I use jars with Synthetic Filter Discs)
What is G2G? (Grain-to-Grain)
Damion5050's Coir Tek (I use 5.5 - 6 quarts of water instead of 4. Also ignore step 13 and ignore the monotub completely. The only purpose of this tek is to show you how to make a simple substrate. I also add gypsum to it but not necessary)
Spitball's Monotub Tek (A liner isn't necessary but is useful)
Use 6500k lights throughout the whole process. When you wake up, turn the light on. When you go to sleep turn the light off. It's as simple as that.

Same, I know I'm going to like it, seems like it has a Stephen King element to it, and a Spielberg style of science fiction.

Kid Cannabis and Bonnie and Clyde are two of my favorites on Netflix if you haven't seen those. It's the new version of Bonnie and Clyde by the way.

I'm more of a documentary type of person, I'm just not into shows or following characters and things like that. Idk why, it's just not my thing I guess. It makes Netflix kind of useless after a couple of weeks until someone suggests some hidden gem on there.

It's good stuff, that one. You'll get mad half way thru season 3 tho. Eva Green is magnificent. I am in love with her dark beauty and love her character. I actually even bought her tarot deck in the show. I actually like more than my other tarot decks too.

I have tons of documentary suggestions. It should be there but other cool ones include but are not limited to ww2&vietnam in HD,Brothers in arms, restrepo, kerengal(i think that's the name), mysteries at the museam(great show for men and women). There's an awesome doc on Tesla that really is so comprehensive it makes you feel like u know the man

The last movie I watched on Netflix was Brotherly Love (2015), and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I would describe it as a modern day, urban Romeo and Juliet.

I loved Little Girl Blue..the Janis Joplin documentary. I was coming up on shrooms and watched it. It will be interesting to watch it again, this time straight, to see if it was as phenomenol as I thought it was the first time!

Daaaamn.

I have to do an episode at a time, I don't know why it's so hard for me to focus on tv. I can browse the Shroomery or just listen to music on my bed for hours but tv really drains me.

It is really good though.

Good list. Flaked is great. I've watched about 4 episodes of Bloodline and couldn't get into it, none of the characters really interest me. I think WHAS is my favorite on that list.

Spots & I just started that one tonight, only 1 episode in though.  Pretty good so far.  I really love the original music for this show.  Synthy.

We might check that out.
Watch Dope, dude.

Already have.  In spite of some flaws (namely the end, but not the part where Malcolm is dancing, that was great), pretty good movie there.

The ending was a bummer but Malcolm's running man was probably my favorite part of the entire move.

By way of contribution to the thread, I recommend a 2015 movie called 'Circle'.  It's a sci fi affair that takes place in one room.  50 strangers just "wake up" in this crazy facility where every 90 seconds someone dies, and they discover they control who it is.  Interesting examination of how people judge each other, grim look at human nature.

Also, Netflix recently added 'Beverly Hills Cop'.

Haha, yeah, the dancing was killer.

I thought the ending just felt shoe horned in.  Like, the whole movie is a relatively light comedy, not slapstick, but clever satire; nothing heavy though.  And then in the end, when he's writing the college application essay, the movie all of a sudden acts like it's some weighty examination and critique of American race relations, which it wasn't all along.  I got the sense that the writer and/or director had a hard time with an ending, and opted for the "soap box" approach, which didn't really fit the rest of the movie.  All in all, though, I enjoyed it.

Dope. Haven't seen the other two

I just found the characters, setting, plot line, and writing flimsy. It had the potential to be a cool movie but it just wasn't believable to me at all.

At least you liked Mean Girls.  I didn't want to like that one at first, but it's actually really funny.  Poehler & Fay adapted that script from a book and wrote some excellent jokes and hilarious scenes.

Circle is on my to watch list, so it is nice to see you mention it.

We just finished it. It was a whole family affair man. I was about to post in omnithread that you and spots really need to watch it. Apparently there was talk of a new goonies movie and people would only be pleased if those kids were in it.

Ugh I have to be at work at 530am. Totally worth it. Haha

Also yea Dope was a good movie guys!!!

I just finished Stranger Things and I was blown away.  A+ show especially for anyone that grew up in the 1980s.  There are a ton of references to other movies and books throughout that, if you haven't seen already, would probably go right over most people's heads.  Star Wars, It, E.T., Indiana Jones, Alien, Poltergeist, et al. At first I thought the Sheriff looked like Jack Nicholson, then I thought it was Peter Krause, then I realized it's neither one.
Freaks and Geeks is a great show that's in the same vein as Stranger Things.  The most tragic show never made.
