Pub Scripture * 6
    #23452400 - 07/18/16 10:13 AM (7 years, 6 months ago)

I have noticed that the shroomery in general and the pub in specific is in desperate need of scriptural wisdom and biblical instruction.

I have read the entire bible from cover to cover, and I have taken it upon myself to compile here for your convenience some of the most crucial biblical verses for the modern Pub poster.

Please brothers and sisters, study these sacred scriptures with a steady mind and an open heart.

"Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts."
Proverbs 31:6

"Bread is made for laughter, and wine gladdens life, and money answers everything. "
Ecclesiastes 10:19

"When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.” And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does this have to do with me?"
John 2:1-10

"“Very well,” God said, “I will let you bake your bread over cow dung instead of human excrement.”
Ezekiel 4:17

"Live happily with the woman you love all the meaningless days of your life"
Ecclesiastes 9:9

"let her remove the adulterous look from her face... otherwise I will strip her naked"
Hosea 2:2-4

"A quarrelsome wife is as annoying as constant dripping. Stopping her complaints is like trying to hold something with greased hands"
Proverbs 27:15-16

"Designate a place where you go to relieve yourself. When you relieve yourself, dig a hole and cover up your excrement"
Deuteronomy 23:12-14

"Woe to him who makes his neighbors drink- in order to gaze at their nakedness! "
Habakkuk 2:15

"Do not look at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup and goes down smoothly."
Proverbs 23:31

“At a lodging place on the way, the Lord met Moses and was about to kill him. But Zipporah took a flint knife, cut off her son’s foreskin and touched Moses’ feet with it. So the Lord let him alone."
Exodus 4:24-26

"beatings cleanse the innermost parts"
Proverbs 20:30

"Whenever a man has an emission of semen, he must bathe his entire body in water"
Leviticus 15:16

“Why, nature itself teaches you that long hair on a man is a disgrace”
1 Corinthians 11:14

“It’s better to live alone in the desert than with a quarrelsome, complaining wife.”
Proverbs 21:19

"“Behold, I will rebuke your offspring, and spread dung on your faces"
Malachi 2:3

“Happy is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks.”
Psalm 137:9

“She lusted after lovers with genitals as large as a donkey’s and emissions like those of a horse.”
- Ezekiel 23:20

"“If two men get into a fight and the wife of one tries to rescue her husband by grabbing the testicles of the other man, you must cut off her hand. "
Deuteronomy 25:11-12

“Happy is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks.”
Psalm 137:9

was my personal favorite.

Then we get to hear the bullshit about "old testament vs new testament". Fuck that. If I want to seize your infants and dash them against rocks in 2016, I will.

The funny part is most of these were spot on depending on which version of the bible you're going from.

There's some fucked up, stupid, and straight up weird shit in the bible, especially in the old testament.

Yeah, that was referred to the quotes themselves, not Moonshoe.

It should be duly noted that the part about digging a hole to piss and shit in is the same part that says you should kill gays and crossdressers. This is clearly the legacy of a very advanced civilization.

As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
I take a look at my life and realize there's nothin' left
'Cause I've been blasting and laughing so long,
That even my mama thinks that my mind is gone
But I ain't never crossed a man that didn't deserve it
Me be treated like a punk you know that's unheard of
You better watch how you're talking and where you're walking
Or you and your homies might be lined in chalk
I really hate to trip but I gotta loc
As they croak, I see myself in the pistol smoke, fool
I'm the kinda G the little homies wanna be like
On my knees in the night saying prayers in the streetlight

Been spending most their lives, living in the gangsta's paradise
Been spending most their lives, living in the gangsta's paradise
Keep spending most our lives, living in the gangsta's paradise
Keep spending most our lives, living in the gangsta's paradise

Look at the situation they got me facin'
I can't live a normal life, I was raised by the streets
So I gotta be down with the hood team
Too much television watching got me chasing dreams
I'm an educated fool with money on my mind
Got my 10 in my hand and a gleam in my eye
I'm a loc'd out gangsta set trippin' banger
And my homies is down so don't arouse my anger, fool
Death ain't nothing but a heartbeat away,
I'm living life, do or die, what can I say
I'm 23 now, but will I live to see 24
The way things are going I don't know

Tell me why are we so blind to see
That the ones we hurt are you and me

Been spending most their lives, living in the gangsta's paradise
Been spending most their lives, living in the gangsta's paradise
Keep spending most our lives, living in the gangsta's paradise
Keep spending most our lives, living in the gangsta's paradise

Power and the money, money and the power
Minute after minute, hour after hour
Everybody's running, but half of them ain't looking
What's going on in the kitchen, but I don't know what's cookin'
They say I gotta learn, but nobody's here to teach me
If they can't understand it, how can they reach me
I guess they can't, I guess they won't
I guess they front, that's why I know my life is out of luck, fool

Been spending most their lives, living in the gangsta's paradise
Been spending most their lives, living in the gangsta's paradise
Keep spending most our lives, living in the gangsta's paradise
Keep spending most our lives, living in the gangsta's paradise

Tell me why are we so blind to see
That the ones we hurt are you and me
Tell me why are we so blind to see
That the ones we hurt are you and me

Honestly though, the quotes from Ecclesiastes are kinda different from the rest, because that book has a cheeky and satirical sort of ironic feel to it. The refrain goes "Nothing is new under the sun." It's my favorite book of the Bible, I quote it all the time.

I like the Bible where it's poetic, but most of it is just really fucking gross pseudohistory and gross rules written by gross people for incrementally less gross people.

The passages of the New Testament that contraindicate practices which are currently definitive of mainstream Christianity rank up there too. Did you know that Jesus was opposed to oaths, group prayer and tax write-offs for charity? It's true.

Quote:

33Again, you have heard that it was said to the ancients, ‘Do not break your oath, but fulfill your vows to the Lord.’ 34But I tell you not to swear at all: either by heaven, for it is God’s throne; 35or by the earth, for it is His footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. 36Nor should you swear by your head, for you cannot make a single hair white or black. 37Simply let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ Anything more comes from the evil one.

--Matthew 5

Quote:

1Be careful not to perform your righteous acts before men to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.

2So when you give to the needy, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be praised by men. Truly I tell you, they already have their reward. 3But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

5And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. Truly I tell you, they already have their reward. 6But when you pray, go into your inner room, shut your door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

7And when you pray, do not babble on like pagans, for they think that by their many words they will be heard. 8Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.

In all honesty, I am deeply religious and sincerely Christian. I am baptized, I have indeed read the entire bible cover to cover, I pray every day, I attend Church, and I try to live a religious and spiritual life.

The verses in the OP make me laugh or smile, and that alone makes them among the best verses in the bible. It really is a hard read, and if I take some Gems out of it for humour or for wisdom, that is not mockery but the hard earned fruits of my labour.

I am absolutely sincere when I say that "Live happily with the woman you love all the meaningless days of your life" is my favorite verse in the bible, my motto in life and the purest, most beautiful wisdom I have ever read.

The bible is full of madness and obscenity, but Christians like me find value in it anyway. Sometimes that value is in a laugh or smile.

What downfall? Christendom, or the greater Noahide or Abrahamic cult if it pleases you, represents the single largest and most powerful cultural sphere currently existing on Earth.

I never said it was complete hence the "so far". As a catholic myself, i can see Christianity for the beacon of hope that it is and i don't argue that it is a powerful institution.

There is an evil brewing in the desert that seeks to undo all this progress though and i feel like our returning to our Faith is the only way we'll be able to defeat it.

I posted no mockery.  I simply posted the verses as they actually appear in the bible, with no commentary.

Nothing I have said in this thread is blasphemous in any way, nor is there any mockery.

Just a list of bible verses that I find amusing, with no commentary or interpretation at all, exactly as they appear in the bible.

You really cant even remotely reduce the old testament to simply the back story of Jesus.

That is exactly the kind of misconception that is common among people who haven't actually read the bible.

Its true that Christians tried to draw support for the idea of Jesus as the Messiah by reference to certain prophecies from the old testament, but the Old Testament is much more the history and laws of the Hebrew/Israelite people, along with a creation story and wisdom teachings.

It simply cant be reduced to the backstory of Jesus.

Keep in mind that the "Old Testament" is the same thing as the Jewish Torah. Jews don't believe in Jesus as the messiah, but do hold the old testament sacred.

Clearly then, its not all about Jesus.

My favorite parts arent even the story but all the good wisdom and solid advice on how to be a good wholesome and God fearing man.

Its not easy being a Christiam. Its even harder being a Christian and a degenerate.

People can say what they will about the Bible. If you live as Jesus instructs you simply become a happier and better person.

I live in sin and i am miserable.
I honestly believe that we are divine in nature and Christianity asks us to live up to that.
Is it just coincidince that the most hedonistic people are the highest risk group for aids?
Possibly. Everyone i know who has mocked Jesus our God is now in a very dark place. I on the other hand, while i struggle with my faith, am still in good health and std free.

I have prayed away intense withdrawls and some intense pain as well.
Ive seen the word bring family back from alcoholism and more. Its just too much dor me to not believe.

My friend went back to his church and saw his pastor or counsellor or whatever that he grew up with and started reading the bible again when he realized he wanted to quit and he's been off H for like 5 months now with only 1 or 2 slip ups total.

I'm not religious, but I do believe that if you feel you need God's help in quitting, you should ask for it and do what you need to.  My friend says he can't remember feeling as good as he does now in a long time and I'm really happy for him.  I'm sure your church has someone who's been through it all and come out the other side that you could talk to.

For example, the books of Proverbs, Psalms and Ecclesiastes just cant be described as being even loosely about Jesus' back story.

Those books are books of teachings/advice/wisdom, that don't refer to Jesus but offer insight and instruction to the reader.

Religion really does help a certain percentage of people in breaking free of their addictions.

Its also interesting that statistically speaking people who attend church regularly live an average of seven years longer than people who do not.

This suggests that there is some mental/physical health benefit from organized religious participation.

Live Long and Prosper: Going to Church Increases Lifespan

"Here’s what the researchers found: compared to those who never attend religious services, people who attend church, temple, or synagogue more than once a week, have the equivalent of a 7.5-year-longer life expectancy! Those who do not attend religious services have a 1.87 times higher risk of death for most causes within eight years.

Even after controlling for various factors, such as demographics, health status, socioeconomic status, and social ties, the researchers still found a strong (1.5x) and significant (p<0.01) positive impact attending religious services had on the life expectancy of attendees."

He might actually have a point, the brain is very powerful, if i can find it later I'll post it but for example i remember reading a study years back that showed some people who knew they were being prayed for compared to a group who didnt while sick started showing slight improvement because they truly believed prayer helped because the brain/mind can be that powerful

Granted that the same study IIRC showed that people who were being prayed for and didnt know it stayed the same, its basically a type of placebo effect, if you think it works in some cases it can, so regardless of the religions validity it appears that it can still be beneficial to people if they truly believe it can be

Obviously a much larger study would have to be done to be conclusive because i believe it was a small study but considering the placebo effect is very real if people believe what theyre taking works, then i could see religion or any strong belief being beneficial to people in various ways because of a similar effect IMO

There is a book called "The Power of Belief" that covers this phenomena pretty well. Including studies and what not.
I still have hope at living an athletic life despite a life of smoking and drugging. I BELIEVE in the bodies ability to heal and in making anything possible through God and as a result i seem to bounce back quite well from some heavy drug use.

As i mentioned before i've also prayed away some pretty bad pain before and i'm not one to argue with results.

It's a slow progress marred by frequent relapsing but there IS progress.

In the past i was defeated mentally and emotionally, just waiting to be taken by disease and even facilitating the process of acquiring one.

Now i've become more forgiving of myself and try to look at my inner turmoil(the addict mind) as an illness and not a moral failing.

Appreciate the kind words.

That's one fucked up high horse your trying to be on.  The aids crisis was perpetuated by reagan and christians using some of their favorite tools, denial of reality and science.

Im going to laugh at you if you end up with hiv from banging dope. Maybe then you might actually learn something about hiv.

I mean i've detoxed buttnaked in a very cold "suicide watch" cell for several days after getting beaten up by cops. With nothing to cover myself and a flat metal bunk(no mattress) to sleep on.

And it was a very spiritual experience that i wouldn't take back.

Of course there are different degrees of suffering but in any case, i believe the line is meant specifically for those who suffer for  following their faith.

which wasn't the case for me, i deserved it all, but it was a spiritual experience nonetheless.

Not that it has anything to do with this conversation, but my life is awesome.

IMO people who live in the first world don't know what suffering is. Granted, that exempts me as well, but I have had glimpses and seen that the world is full of terrors beyond our darkest imaginings.

Famine is suffering. Slavery is suffering. Pestilence is suffering. We don't get exposed to real suffering from here.

I mean i've been to third world Ecuador and i get what your saying.

Withdrawal is hell though, wherever you go through it and i certainly think it counts as suffering.

My point was though, that you can take away something positive from a hard experience and indeed many people put themselves in extremely stressful situations to try and get closer to God.

I don't see why people are so vehement to point out "flaws" in the beliefs of Christians.

What does it matter to a non-believer how closely we adhere to rules or standards that they don't even care about?

You can live where you please and Christianity has gone to great lengths to reform itself.

All moonshoe did was post scripture and of course in come the flood of non-believers to tell us why our beliefs are dated and confront us for believing them.

And i'll stop myself there but man is it tempting to point out the hypocrisy in what passes for "truth" among these same people.

I disagree with this. I've been round and round this one so many times, and the only conclusion I can come to is that 'suffering is relative'.

We suffer badly in the western world too; it just happens to be in very different ways to those in the third world.

Sex slaves and lots of other horrors exist in this country.

Also there are people with debilitating diseases and so much more obvious stuff i shouldn't even have to mention.

First-world doesn't exclude us from suffering.
Not even from extreme cases.

Remember the three women trapped in that basement for like a decade by that pervert?

if anything you can make an argument for frequency of occurrence but to imply that being First-world exempts us from extreme suffering is just false.

I feel like debates about religion used to be way more common before Obama got elected and the racists got their panties in such a dreadful knot. Now that we are going to have another white president very soon, religion is coming back into vogue as the raison d'être for our mutual throatslitting.

I'm not doubting you but I would love to hear how the verse is Interpreted or explained to Make it refer to Christ ?

check it out. they speak faster than I can type.

Ephesians 6:12
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Psalm 12:6
The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
Hebrews 11:3
Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
Revelation 3:11
Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

How to get started in bulk:
Presto 23-Quart Pressure Cooker
BOD's Simple as FUCK Still Air Box
PastyWhyte's Easy Agar Tek
Munchauzen's Cultivation Video Series
How EvilMushroom666 Prepares His Grains (I use jars with Synthetic Filter Discs)
What is G2G? (Grain-to-Grain)
Damion5050's Coir Tek (I use 5.5 - 6 quarts of water instead of 4. Also ignore step 13 and ignore the monotub completely. The only purpose of this tek is to show you how to make a simple substrate. I also add gypsum to it but not necessary)
Spitball's Monotub Tek (A liner isn't necessary but is useful)
Use 6500k lights throughout the whole process. When you wake up, turn the light on. When you go to sleep turn the light off. It's as simple as that.
