Genesis 3:15
And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel."
This is a verse about Christ saving mankind. First three chapters of the old testament.
--------------------
Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Psalm 12:6 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. Revelation 3:11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

OK, so you were cold for a couple days. Truly Christ-like.

Granted it's not as bad as being born in the wrong body but it was far from just "being cold".

Not that it has anything to do with this conversation, but my life is awesome.
IMO people who live in the first world don't know what suffering is. Granted, that exempts me as well, but I have had glimpses and seen that the world is full of terrors beyond our darkest imaginings.
Famine is suffering. Slavery is suffering. Pestilence is suffering. We don't get exposed to real suffering from here.

I mean i've been to third world Ecuador and i get what your saying.
Withdrawal is hell though, wherever you go through it and i certainly think it counts as suffering.
My point was though, that you can take away something positive from a hard experience and indeed many people put themselves in extremely stressful situations to try and get closer to God.
I don't see why people are so vehement to point out "flaws" in the beliefs of Christians.
What does it matter to a non-believer how closely we adhere to rules or standards that they don't even care about?

We have to live with you people and the being you call God is demonstrably a huge dick, if he exists.

You can live where you please and Christianity has gone to great lengths to reform itself.
All moonshoe did was post scripture and of course in come the flood of non-believers to tell us why our beliefs are dated and confront us for believing them.
And i'll stop myself there but man is it tempting to point out the hypocrisy in what passes for "truth" among these same people.

Yeah, that's what I talk about when I go to a pub. Scripture.

(Grain-to-Grain) Damion5050's Coir Tek (I use 5.5 - 6 quarts of water instead of 4. Also ignore step 13 and ignore the monotub completely. The only purpose of this tek is to show you how to make a simple substrate. I also add gypsum to it but not necessary) Spitball's Monotub Tek (A liner isn't necessary but is useful) Use 6500k lights throughout the whole process. When you wake up, turn the light on. When you go to sleep turn the light off. It's as simple as that.

Can you please elaborate , explain or interpret that verse and what it means to you?
I'm sure you see that the verse is quite cryptic, and if it refers to Christ it's not immediately obvious how it does so.
I'm not doubting you but I would love to hear how the verse is Interpreted or explained to Make it refer to Christ ?

If you'll look at my previous responses, I was obviously joking.

I disagree with this. I've been round and round this one so many times, and the only conclusion I can come to is that 'suffering is relative'.
We suffer badly in the western world too; it just happens to be in very different ways to those in the third world.
-------------------- Let it be seen that you are nothing. And in knowing that you are nothing... there is nothing to lose, there is nothing to gain. What can happen to you? Something can happen to the body, but it will either heal or it won't. What's the big deal? Let life knock you to bits. Let life take you apart. Let life destroy you. It will only destroy what you are not. --Jac O'keeffe

Sex slaves and lots of other horrors exist in this country.
Also there are people with debilitating diseases and so much more obvious stuff i shouldn't even have to mention.
First-world doesn't exclude us from suffering. Not even from extreme cases.
Remember the three women trapped in that basement for like a decade by that pervert?
if anything you can make an argument for frequency of occurrence but to imply that being First-world exempts us from extreme suffering is just false.

Wow, who would have thought that religion would be an even more polarizing issue in the pub than politics.

I feel like debates about religion used to be way more common before Obama got elected and the racists got their panties in such a dreadful knot. Now that we are going to have another white president very soon, religion is coming back into vogue as the raison d'ĂȘtre for our mutual throatslitting.
