Storage after dried.

So my buddy had the idea of using those really big plastic pickle jars for storage after being completely dried.
He though putting a little damp rid (desiccant) wrapped in a coffee filter and throw that in with them to suck up any extra moisture.
Would this be a good idea and keep them good for a while?

For best long term storage, use a vacuum sealer to suck out all the air from the bag. Make sure they're cracker dry first and they'll stay good for a looong time

Well yes ideally but what is the poor mans option?

That will work if you have loose desiccant, or the packets in a jar work too. Might smell like pickles though haha.

The jar will work fine. The MOST important step is drying COMPLETELY before using any method of storage. I just keep mine in gallon ziplocks in the freezer. Never had anyone complain about their potency.

I get mine cracker dry in a dehydrator then just store them in a half pint glass jar.

Wouldnt it make more sense to use a bigger jar though? Or do you just use multiple jars?

They don't make a jar big enough for what most people here have
Most bulk growers would need multiple pickle jars.

(Grain-to-Grain) Damion5050's Coir Tek (I use 5.5 - 6 quarts of water instead of 4. Also ignore step 13 and ignore the monotub completely. The only purpose of this tek is to show you how to make a simple substrate. I also add gypsum to it but not necessary) Spitball's Monotub Tek (A liner isn't necessary but is useful) Use 6500k lights throughout the whole process. When you wake up, turn the light on. When you go to sleep turn the light off. It's as simple as that.

Quart and gallon jars do okay, but if you need the jars or extra storage space then vacuum sealed bags are the best and cheapest option.
