Okay, so can we all admit that race relations have IMPROVED since the 50's?

To suggest that racism is as bad now or even close to how it was back then is ridiculous

I don't know about Canada man but I can tell you that at least in Baton Rouge and New Orleans the vast majority of violent crime is commited by blacks. You can say that employers turn down black applicants, but this is a very small minority and to think that a few stories of this happening is any indication of widespread racism in America, you would be very wrong. The KKK is a small group of some goofballs stuck in the 40s, not a political party. As for the wealth disparity, the time following integration was an awful economic climate with very little social mobility for blacks in most major cities, and I think the effects still linger on. In New Orleans, there is a large, multi-generational welfare dependant class almost exclusively comprised of blacks. But for the few trying to find a better life for themselves, racism is not the obstacle; it's the disadvantaged society they were born into.
