Shiitake - 4months in bag no or little browning

I have Shiitake in bags from 4 months ago and and only a few bags have started to brown, even then its not complete.
Should I just fruit them or wait more?
Any reasons why its not browning?
Also, do you guys cold shock in bag or out of back - I've seen both methods done and dont know what it is best

Pics please. Did they popcorn? I cold shock in the bag, slap shit out of them, and wait to see some pins. Then when it starts pinning, I take the bag off, and rinse. What strain is it?

There are some pics.
I will place near window and hope.
They popcorned ages ago, maybe like 2 months ago.
I wonder if the lack of light is also an explanation why it appears the bottom of the bags dont appear to have fully colonized in some cases.

Very strange. I just leave mine in ambient room light, and they do ok. In fact I have some in the closet that are half brown after 2 months. Maybe it's strain related. Let us know if the light helps.

Cold shock in bag, strip the bag 2-3 days after cold shocking.

mosby take my advice while they are still in the bag and provide them with some strong light and you will see browning harden it off mine had stayed white for literally months almost 6 months till i introduced it to light while sealed inside the bag

I had similar problems with genetics I cloned from store bought shiitake, some didn't brown at all after 6 months in bag. I have 3782 in the same conditions and am getting much better browning with it.

Just a guess that this is something I observe when shiitake has taken over a contaminated block.

Those blocks may have had some sort of contamination, nothing I could smell or see easily though?
Spawn I made may have had some less than obvious contamination?
