ID Request. - Gymnopilus junonius maybe?
    #23446675 - 07/16/16 11:55 AM (7 years, 6 months ago)

Habitat:
On the way up a mountain looking for liberty caps, I found these growing amongst damp wood, and tree bark, very damp area, surrounded by coniferous trees. In Northern Ireland.

Gills:
The gills seem to be attatched to the head of the mushroom - I've opened one up to have a look and it's smooth and yellow/tan under the cap.

Stem:
inch long-ish. Quite thick, yellow tan colour lightening as it gets closer to the cap.

Cap:
Convex 3-5cm diameter cap, brown/tan colour, darker than stem anyway.

Spore print color:
waiting on this now

I'm new to this but just by looking at photos online I'm hoping maybe it's Gymnopilus junonius just based on it's appearance and the habitat it grows in. I've only ever found liberty caps so I'm curious, even if it's not active if someone could ID it for me that'd be amazing.

Thanks.

A bolete and not a Gymnopilus sp. Gyms have gills and this mushroom has pores.

Possibly Suillus grevillei var. clintonianus.
