My grow closet build in progress (w/pics) 1

My walk in grow closet: plastic is duct taped over every wooden/sheetrock surface. I plan to duct humidity in at 2 or 3 different heights within the chamber. And I figure I'll probably need a normal humidifier running in the chamber to keep it boosted. Though the average outdoor humidity in my area is 60-ish so we'll see. Thing is 5 ft by 2.5 ft and 7.5 ft tall
You can see the crappy beginnings of my humidity ducting on the left there. (I'll probably go with wider diameter pvc in the end.) Bucket humidifier is just a couple pond foggers in makeshift floats and a small 110 cfm fan
this things freakin' tall! Might put hooks in the ceiling or something.
Its nice having the window right there both for lighting and exhaust. Those plants outside the window are gonna be loving the CO2 flow
Hoping my bucket humidifier can keep up with this huge window fan, even on low. Maybe I'll obstruct it with filter material or something. Obstructing fans isn't bad for them is it?
Trying to show how far back it goes. Fairly spacious
There you have it, I plan to grow oyster, shiitake, and hopefully king oyster in here. Quite excited to get this thing in action. Any notes, thoughts, questions, etc, feel free. That's why I posted it.

With shiitake you wont even need the exhaust fan. Just circulate and humidify air in the chamber. I highly doubt that pail will keep up with that window fan. Yes you can Restrict it.

ahh good to know about the shiitake, thanks
Yeah that exhaust versus humidifier seems to be the main oversight

Is that just a computer fan on your bucket? If so i highly recommend putting it blowing into a pipe about 6". Reason why is your foggers will fill the pail with fog, the fog will wet the backside of the fan and eventually rot it out and fail it. I found the blower design fans work better than axial fans, they push a lot harder.

Its not to late to extend the fan on a tube. Otherwise i give it 1 month before it shits out. Also, make sure you have one fogger on 24/7 then 1-3 running off a controler.

Yea that one is legit. Just make sure to cover the white connection with silicone or rtv sealant.

Do you mean the connection to the humidity probe area? Yeah I'd been wondering about that.

On the subject of fans, I wound up going with a bilge fan for my exhaust and will switch to one for my intake when the computer fan goes. Loud Attwood brand ones on Amazon are ~$20. The one I got is $40 and it's completely silent. It's a Seaflo and if you look on eBay you'll find authorized dealers and they come with 4 year warranties. They're made for salty humid sea air and should last a good long while.

Cool idea on the bilge fan. How long have you been running it? Is it holding up well?

Let me know how that bilge pump works. There not desiged to run 24/7 but they might work well. Im using greenhouse fans with great results in my big grow. My little grow has two tiny little 12v blowers and they have been working well for a few months now.

Just realized, there are tons of oriental grocers in my area. They'd probably be all over my product.

I have checked out a local Asian grocery store, they carried a lot of those bottle grown shimeji mushrooms in the sealed bags, $1.99/EA.
They were old and rotting in the bag, maybe this was a clearance price. They also had oyster mushrooms and Kings on styrofoam cards under plastic that were rotting, $2.50/lb. "Product of China"
The Kings looked okay. You can't compete on price, you need to focus on quality, and that means marketing your product to people who care about quality. That means restaurants and farmers markets...
