Hey! i recently bought a cactus labeled as San Pedro at home depot and i just wanted to double check the ID on it to make sure it wasnt just a careless mislabel.
In addition to that, i was given a couple cuttings from my friend's garden and he claimed that they were san pedro, wanted to Double check those as well.
Help me please botanists!
it should be fairly obvious which pictures are the store bought and which are the gift.

They're both Trichocereus, your friends cuttings are definitely san pedro Trichocereus pachanoi
The other one looks like it might be pachanoi as well someone else on here might know the strain.
What it says on the pot looks pretty accurate. Ecuadorian pachanoi maybe

This thread was moved from Mushroom Hunting and Identification.
Reason: Looks like Trichocereus to me, but I am no expert....Moving to the forum where the experts are.

That's crazy, a pachanoi from a store that isn't PC Solid find! That yellow one looks gross, but probably just too much sun.

I am confused, I thought those two in the first pic were PC judging from their ribs, which have the serrated look most PC pachs have, also PC pach is the same as Backberg correct?
I thought non-PC pachs had a smoother appearance, am I mistaken?

PC doesn't have notches above the aereoles. I'll show you mine
 an older one

PC is the smooth one, Ecuadorian pachanoi from what I've heard tend to have really bulbous areoles and deep knotches. They say PC is likely a cross from an EQ pach, but it's all just speculation. Same as Backeberg\
but PC the aereoles are pointed upward, the pic he posted they come pretty straight out

Sorry redz but that is incorrect. PC pedro most certainly has notches above the areole. This is one of the defining features of a PC pach.
sorry to plug an outside link but it is for identification and nothing else

Non PC pachs have smooth ribs and spines that are pretty deeply set into the areoles. That most certainly looks like a pc pach to me.
Edit: just realized the photos were taken down from that site. bummer

V shaped notches is reminiscent of non pc but serrated ribs is definitely a feature of pc pachs. That op looks like it could be either but pc pachs definitely have the "steps" look to their ribs.
