Gnat galore! =D

Ok main concern is I had a golden oyster basket put together and literally nothing but gnats and quite a bit of green on top grew... Oh and not normal fungal gnats, like fucking fruit gnats lol I'm all fucked up y'all! =[ ceasing fruiting stuff for at least a week... I am unsure why, could it be an old culture that was not ready for bulk, gnats infested immediately and killed mycelium, or what? I mean like no myc, and some bags I had were stalling hard too I tossed it all quickly and without want to grab my phone and picture it, sorry haha
So, are there any sprays that are safe on the mushrooms and those that ingest mushrooms? specifically oysters on straw

You cant spray them it has no effect. They do contam things a lot red wine trick wrong a little if you find the egg source put a potatoe slices on top there young will craw on top of them. Then set slices on fire

Yeah, Golden oyster will produce a sweet smell as it converts fiber to carbs. This attracts insects, the myc 'can' eat the insect spawn.
Use repellant discs, like car frangrance hungups. As you mentioned insects can add contams.

I can vouch for the yellows being the worst, and they do eat the gnats too, so I wonder if it is a deliberate thing and the mushrooms are actually carnivorous.

It's very possible, an intentional digestion method. A good point. Suddenly Golden oyster is 100% more interesting.
Pleurotus ostreatus is carnivorous.

Put that bin into your compost far away from your grow, or give it to someone else to compost.

I hate those little fuckers! That's why I don't grow oysters outside.

Get some old socks, use some vinnegar, lemon juice, lavender, ciggy butts.
Saturate your selected method in water if you need to, or fill the socks. Soak or fill the socks, dry them. They should smell.
Hang them up around your grows.

It seems Golden oyster is potentially flying insect carnivorous. After doing some data mining I found really enticing info.
I found gnats are highly attracted to yellow colours. And sweet smells, both Golden produce.
Gnats would provide protein (N).
I think Golden is the daddy!
----
I avoid open air growing, once fully colonized, never have issues. If your surface is 100% fluffy myc they avoid landing.
Hope they get tangled, then eaten.

Today I went outside to look at one of my outdoor grows. Look what I found lurking near some mushrooms.

It's a mutant fly bee! Just kidding.

Thanks thegoodwolf. Have you ever tried hanging those fly tape things around your yellows? I saw them in a friend's kitchen and they kick ass; just a small pic of some kind of tape with a scent flies love and they they hit it and stick. Maybe there is gnat tape?? Mutant fly bee tape???
