Green Party?
    #23444841 - 07/15/16 06:22 PM (7 years, 6 months ago)

So I have taken the isidewith quiz the last three years, and I always get green party as my party, followed by democrat.  I am curious if anyone ever gets down with the green party, if so what's it all about?  Serious answers only, I am not trying to debate any issues, just curious if any of you like minded individuals relate to them, and if so, why?

My isidewith results were as follows.

Jill Stein - 96%
Bernie Sanders - 96&
Hillary Clinton - 92%
Gary Johnson - 75%
Donald Trump - 25%

I follow them on Facebook.  They don't seem active enough for a real chance.

The Green Party only needs 5% of the vote in the general to begin receiving matching federal funds. You want a viable third party? Fucking vote for one.

Where ever that information has came from, that it is truly false. Hillary is 110 % for corporation ruling the whole world. Whom ever had made that poll is trying to psych someone out with that false information as if Hillary for the green party.

We are grassroots activists, environmentalists, advocates for social justice, nonviolent resisters and regular citizens who’ve had enough of corporate-dominated politics. Government must be part of the solution, but when it’s controlled by the 1%, it’s part of the problem. The longer we wait for change, the harder it gets. Don’t stay home on election day. Vote Green. http://www.gp.org/

I've been a member of the Green Party since 2003.  There's a lot of good information on their website that Douglas Howard provided, including their platform:  http://www.gp.org/platform

I matched 99% with Bernie.  His values align a lot closer to the Green Party than to the Democratic Party.

I am in a minority on the shroomery, as I frequently defend the opposing side when they have a point about something or when my side make believes something about them.  I also attack my side if I think they're wrong.  People here get very confused by that and think it means I prefer the other side.

Nows not a great time to vote 3rd party.  Unless your willing for Trump to tip the scale.  It's not so much about what you wish as what you fear these days.

Sad to say, but oh-so-true. I'm voting for Hilary if she's up against Trump this Nov.

That's always the narrative that the two-party system is in favor of. It's why the system exists: "You have to vote for me because the other guy will ruin America!" True, Trump is beast in his own league, but we saw the same arguments being put forth in 2008 and 2012.

If this country seriously wants a viable third party, then we need to take the plunge and actually vote for one. Waiting for the next election cycle never works and never will.

On the same day Bernie Sanders officially endorsed Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination and declared she will make an "outstanding president," presumptive Green Party nominee Jill Stein was having none of it.
"If you don't want to vote for a warmonger or racist billionaire, there are more options. The political revolution will keep going," Stein tweeted in the hour preceding Sanders' announcement alongside Clinton in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

In another tweet, Stein wrote, "While Trump praises dictators, Hillary takes their money. Remind us again of Saudi Arabia's human rights record?"
As Sanders began speaking, Stein offered her own hashtags to disaffected Bernie backers. "The revolution continues with those who will fight for a government that represents all of us--not just the 1%. #HillNo #JillYes," Stein

Thanks for the info Douglas, those were interesting reads.

What federal funding are you speaking of?

I am in my early 30's now, never got into politics that much growing up, but I have always found it interesting, and as I get older want to learn more about it.

For ease of conversation, please explain like I am 5 years old.

The 3rd parties were way more popular in previous decades. Sorry, you're not the generation of change. Just read history books (unlikely) or the internet. That Occupy now thing had potential, but I see no change. No offense, but I see little social change so far from millenials. Maybe I'll be wrong.
