Non-Slip Shoes?
    #23444792 - 07/15/16 06:07 PM (7 years, 6 months ago)

just landed a new job at a restaurant opening up nearby, chipotle style serving and shit. they say non slip shoes are required, just picked up some fairly cheap trainers with decent traction and a rubber sole. do i really need some verified non slip shoe or will the cheap ones i just described work out fine?

That depends on how much you enjoy busting your ass on the floor.

That might depend on your boss and superiors and how closely they follow their regulations/guidlines, and also if you actually do slip while at work.

Vans makes some decent nonslip shoes.

All non slip means is rubber with tread I think. As long as you don't show up in a pair of beat to shit converse you'll probably be ok. After that it's up to ur manager of assume. Good luck at your new job

Non slip shoes are made specifically to not slip on wet tiled and similarly surfaced floors. Regular rubber tread is not the same.

I've worked lots of kitchen jobs and I always wore skate shoes. Never had a slip. I've seen it happen, but it's rare.

yes, they need to say non slip or slip resistant. It'll say on box and/or on soul of shoe. Its important because grease is everywhere in a resturant and floors are slick. They get wet, spills and grease everywhere on the daily. Its easy to slip. You'll find this out real quickly.  This doesnt mean you have to spend a pretty dollar on some fancy shoes. Walmart has non slip for 20-30$. Its necessary. Trust me

Yea walmart has them cheap, throw an insert in there for comfort and replace every 6 months as needed.  No point in spending 3x as much on things that are going to be trashed

For real buy non slip shoes.. I've been a chef for almost 10 years.. I used to wear skater shoes when I was younger and would slip and slide everywhere.. If you are working a shit ton of hours spend $60-$100 and get a good pair. I'm about to buy a pair of berkinstock clogs.I have the kitchen crocs now spent $60 on them two years ago and they are still decent but I  plan on giving them to one of the dishwashers whose shoes have like no tred left.
