Hey, welcome to the Shroomery!

Chances are, yes, that your mushrooms will come back the following spring. Chances that they are active or edible are slim...But, it would be interesting to get an ID on what they are.

As for the question about the orange juice, you should post that in General questions. They would answer that better... As far as I heard, since vitamin C increases the rate your body cells work, its possible that it does increase the trip. I used to eat a lot of packages of Emergen-C, which is something like 1600% of your DV of vitamin C...

Someone with more experience correct me if I'm wrong... but I believe 53*F is still going to be too cold for Cubensis. It favors 70-85*F climates, and high humidity. Occasionally it can be found growing in the upper 60's, but that's not very common... Like I said, theres a chance the information I have given you is innaccurate, but to my knowledge it is right.

Search around for an article about "New Turf" I looked around but couldn't find it...maybe you'll have better luck than I did!

Well, adoseofparn0z, I dont think he was talking strictly about Ps. cubensis...
Most likely because Ps. cubensis will not be found anywhere near the Portland area ever.

Yes, and cubensis will grow in colder climates, given that they have other environmental factors which stimulate their growth.

As for the lawn mushrooms, a few that are able to be found in Portland that are hallucinogenic are: Psilocybe stunzii and Panaeolus subbalteatus.

And P. baeocystis and P. fimetaria and Conocybe cyanopus and C. smithii are also on lawns in the Portland area.

Blue ringers were frist id'ed in Oregon by Ott in 1976 from Milwaukee and Oregon City. Garrtsz and I collected about 80 pounds in OCtober of 2001 in Eugene, Oregon near the Willamette river.

mj

AND THAT WOULD BE NEWER WELL MANICURED LAWNS AROUND OFFICE BUILDINGS, CONDO AND APARTMENT COMPKLEX AND IN PUBLIC PLACES SUCHAS PARKS, THEY LIKE NEW SOD, NOT SEEDS.

Also, look at Panaeolus foenescii...They are extremely similar looking to the untrained eye. They are very common in the PNW (as well as other areas in the nation) and are inactive. Luckily they are not too harmful if there is a misidentification.
