Bag contams 6 days in?

This Phoenix oyster on supplemented Sawdust. I made 6 bags and spawned 3 with Phoenix oyster and they have all started to contam. The other 3 bags are not contaminated. Other than my spawn, or sterile technique being poor, why would contam show up nearly a week in?

Inoculant, dirty/not sterilized enough spawn with too wet spawn, bad techniques and filter failure are the reasons why shit contaminates. And all those causes can be possible for contaminations from within 24 hours of inoc to 2 months in fruiting, and anywhere in-between.
Also too wet or improper pasteurization of a substrate that needs pasteurization can cause early fruiting contamination as well, but 9/10 times contams before fruiting or early within fruiting is spawn related.

Thank you for the reply mad season. After running down your list and opening the bags (outside!) I am leaning towards too wet of sub and bad technique. The moldy parts were the wettest and with no spawn around. That was the last jar of spawn from that batch, so I can't test the spawn. I'm not ruling the spawn out either. Just have to do better next time.

Yep. Just gotta keep trying. To solve inoculant problems, grow some out on agar, get it clean and either g2g the bags with jars, drop a clean agar wedge into LC, or blend it into LI. Either of those last 2 are viable liquid inoculants.
It's better to have things too dry than too wet. Bad shit happens when wet.

Right on. I calculated my Sawdust's hydration at 10%. Does 70% hydration of the total sub sound OK?
I didn't know I could drop a wedge into LI to start it! I have only shot sterile water from a syringe onto a plate, scraped, then sucked up and inoculated the LI from there. I like that I never have to open the LI jar after it has been sterilized. I don't like how awkward getting the mycelium into the syringe is. Having a third arm, robotic or otherwise, would be real handy.
