Why have a truck? 11

Hey so for the record I came from a conservative family. Really strong traditional TEXAN MONSTER TRUCK background. My parents never supported buying a TRUCK and never had a TRUCK in the GARAGE
I went on to become a boyscout and eventually an eagle scout. A troop full of white people really influenced me. I ended up DRIVING all kinds of TRUCKS. PICKUPS, 18-WHEELERS, FLATBEDS, MONSTER etc. I was surprisingly good with them too. It was tons of fun and for a nerdy asian kid, being the best DRIVER in the troop was a fond memory and boost of self esteem
My parents are financially supporting me through college at the moment. I work and pay for some of my stuff but my parents are giving me a generous hand. They said they would not support financially if I got a TRUCK. Once I am a little more settled, I plan on getting some sort of MILK FLOAT
With the all the recent CAR CRASHES, I have been thinking more and more about TRUCK rights. I am leaning more towards the right on the issue. I feel being familiar with TRUCKS at a young age made me realize that they are incredibly powerful and there's a lot of responsibility in owning one. This is pretty surprising considering people in California (my home state) are pretty damn anti-DRIVING
But my buddy brought up the idea of "why have a TRUCK in the first place?". I know tons of people with TRUCKS but I am yet to hear of a single time someone has actually protected their family with a TRUCK. It's not like people go around town TRUNDLING their TOYOTA HILUX openly to the mall and chipotle; where there are MASS VEHICLE WRECKS
Is it a psychological thing? That having TRUCKS makes people FEEL safer? I have little interest in NASCAR. But I was wondering if you guys had any life-saving experiences with TRUCKS? Or any real reason outside of hobby to have a TRUCK?

It's not 4 feet off the ground. That's a car with a bed, not a truck.

I have always hated truck drivers. Used to live out in the suburbs and tweakers would literally speed up and down the long straight street I lived on... I could hear their engines roaring sometimes even pretty late at night and they would literally just go up and down the road For a lot of people having a big ass truck seems like a trophy sort of thing too, makes them feel better then everyone else.
More recently though I have known a lot of truck owners who actually got trucks for practical things like hauling dirt/ lumber and other things.
So it really comes down to a personal thing. Asshole truck drivers tend to be the ones in really expensive overly big new trucks that drive really aggressively.
Where as smart truck drivers go for the smaller but still useful older ones that are less fleshy/ expensive but don't have modern computers running them.

Trucks are a lot of fun but we need more restrictions on them wont someone think of the children !

For work, hauling tools/equipment and things.
For towing a boat or trailer.
Or purely for off road capability/shenanigans.
Other than that, I don't get why a person would purchase and drive a truck as their daily driver....They're terrible on gas, they handle like shit, and they usually don't ride all that nice.....But lots of folks do . This is one of those little petty things that really annoys me.
My pops wants to get a truck sometime in the next few years but he has absolutely no use for it, nothing to tow and rarely ever has the need to haul something, he just says he has always wanted a truck . He said he's also interested in an Escalade instead, but 98% of the time he would be the only one riding in it, he has no need for a large SUV ....I don't at all understand the logic & reasoning of some most people.
Or how about those that modify their trucks for off road use, and never or rarely take it off road. Or those that lift their truck, and the truck is only 2wd.

TRUCKS are cool and obviously useful but i never owned one. I drove a TRUCK today . '96 f150 with a mildly worked 302(heads, cam, etc.). I help a disabled guy out with groceries and stuff. I took his TRUCK out and around since it has'nt been out in awhile. I can dig TRUCKS. I was looking for a bronco before i bought my last car, but they rust like 70s fiats 'round these parts. I'd love a '73-'77 f-series. Or a mazda repu with a bridgeported 13b or something.

My greatest passion in life is the natural world, plants, animals, fungi, the whole outdoors, you get the gist. A truck would come in handy for certain things associated with the outdoors, but I wouldn't get a large truck, just like a small Chevy Colorado, or Toyota Tacoma, something that could fit a couple bodies, err I mean bags of soil.

What's hilarious is every single pic is of a pickup, not a TRUCK
I've noticed libs Libs think of pickups the same way they do guns, that they are used by insecure hillbillies to make up for penis size or some BS like that

Pretty much every single thing you own, everything in your house including all the building materials used to build it, we're all brought to you on the back of a truck.
The world would be a shitty hellhole compared to what we have today if it wasn't for trucks.

I have zero practical use for a truck but lately I've really wanted to buy a 4x4 pickup that I could go off-roading in I'd also get it lifted and looking obnoxious as fuck just for the hell of it.

The appeal is purely aesthetic, and being able to haul around my big ass amp would be a plus too
And I'm not talkin about a monster truck. I'd get something modest

I have a truck I bought for work. Barely use it now because I switched my career so it is designated for camping/hunting/fishing/towing the boat/moving the dogs from place to place. Driving it every day would suck. I have a small all electric car for commuting and it is so different.
It is annoying when I'm in the little car at night and some redneck with a jacked up truck gets behind me blinding me with his headlights.

Like this shit, no one realistically needs anything even close to that. Lol
And its a ford!?
Trucks are like shoe size dude. You think women are throwing themselves at people cruising around in Isuzus and shit? You want the pussy you need a big truck.
sadly the case a lot of the time lol
I drive a Jeep and then also have to drive my company work trucks. The soul purpose behind me getting a jeep was because i wanted to be higher off the ground, so i cant say much i cant hardly even stand riding in cars anymore. With my jeep i have such a better view.
Like my brother used to have a nissan eclipse. As nice as it looked, you had almost no view of what there was around you. It was really annoying to drive.

I say jeep too, i am currently driving a jeep. Trucks are dumb unless you need one for work, in my opinion. Whats the appeal of being an obnoxious truck owner? Lol
What if I told you that you could be a jeep owner and an obnoxious truck owner at the same time

Haha nah im good. I just dont see the appeal. The most id do to my jeep is put a sound system in it. I dont really care for the big tires and lifts.

Oh yeah, I meant to mention this earlier, but the higher elevation is a huge motivation behind me wanting to buy a jeep/truck. I love being able to see over traffic

Yeah the places I go have lots of dirt roads and average a few feet of snow a year. Plus I take it on the beach. I dont get people who own older jeeps and dont do jeep things. I mean if you bought one of those new Fiat pos then ok fine.
If you own a YJ CJ or XJ and you dont do jeep things then you should sell it to someone who will appreciate and do what it was made to do.
3.5 in lift here with 30 in tires climbing into my boxy truck is like climbing into a space ship

What kind of amp doesn't fit in a car I've fit 2x4 cabs and full sized heads in my outback just fine

I was wondering that as well.
I have a 70 pound guitar amp that I have loaded into med sized cars on top of a full PA system, synthesizer, acoustic guitars and other random stuff.

It is a massive advantage. I've gone from riding a Supersport 1000cc bike (which is low and very crouched) to a high, upright seated position Supermotard daily.
Having your eyes above the traffic is infinitely superior (and thus safer) than having them below.

I don't drive an outback dude the amp isn't the issue, it's the cars I've driven.

This is my amp. It's not huge, but it doesn't fit through my Saturn ion's doors
