Train hopping

Legitly, I'm not planning on doing this. I might make plans depending on the answers though another post inspired this question.
Has anyone here train hopped? How do you do it (besides obviously hopping on the train)? What are the consequences? How difficult is it to do? Where did you travel to?
-------------------- How to get started in bulk: Presto 23-Quart Pressure Cooker BOD's Simple as FUCK Still Air Box PastyWhyte's Easy Agar Tek Munchauzen's Cultivation Video Series How EvilMushroom666 Prepares His Grains (I use jars with Synthetic Filter Discs) What is G2G? (Grain-to-Grain) Damion5050's Coir Tek (I use 5.5 - 6 quarts of water instead of 4. Also ignore step 13 and ignore the monotub completely. The only purpose of this tek is to show you how to make a simple substrate. I also add gypsum to it but not necessary) Spitball's Monotub Tek (A liner isn't necessary but is useful) Use 6500k lights throughout the whole process. When you wake up, turn the light on. When you go to sleep turn the light off. It's as simple as that.

Nope, have not.
Seriously considered it while hitchhiking about a decade back, and again this spring.
This time I met a few guys who were doing so, could have shimmied my way in with them, but the cops showed up before I could decide and I walked away. When I came back they were already on the train and gone.
At this stage, I definitely will not be doing so. Done with hitchhiking as well. Though I'll be hoboin next year, camping out in the woods, whatever. Will pay my way from city to city, stick around in one area for about 6 weeks.
Whats your plan friend?

Yeah, I doubt I'll ever do it (hopefully I never feel like I need to), but it does sound like fun. I realize the idea of the thrill of train hopping is what sounds fun though and train hopping itself would in reality probably cause me high anxiety at the least.

Or what if your on the train and it stops in some station in the middle of nowhere for a few days? You would sort of be fucked. I personally wouldn't but it could be one hell of a journey!!! AGH fuck it, why not?

Both reasons why you're supposed to go with someone seasoned in train hopping.
You need to know where the trains going, how to find out, where to get on, where to get off, etc.
From what I've heard at least

I might if I run into some interesting people who are doing so already, and they happen to be heading in a direction which seems sensible.
Unlikely though, already have plans and that would most likely be a detour.
Are you considering doing so?

Percussion's always good
Not exactly sure what I'll be doing next year, depends on several things (including unpredictable and seemingly permanent injury which at this rate, may well ruin both my ability to work a day-job and my career as a musician ). There's a possibility I'll be hoboin out if you're serious, though its not something to plan on

Well, whatever happens I'll be posting a thread about it
It'll basically come down to hoboing on foot or in a car, barring female interference

I just traveled once from Alamogordo, New Mexico, to Vaughan New Mexico. If you do it, you should ask the conductor/brakeman for permission. Most of them are cool they will let you hop a boxcar. Some of them are assholes though, I would ask.
Hoboin' was big years ago, it was famous during the depression. There was like hobo camps (according to literature) even Ernest hemmingway wrote some shorts about train hopping.
There were even songs about it....

If you're into the whole depression scene, I recommend reading Woody Guthrie's book "Bound for Glory"
One of my all time favorite books, very interesting
