Do shrooms sedate you?

I've noticed on the come up that sometimes I just wanna go lay down and close my eyes after I'd say 20 minutes into the intial come up
does this happen to anyone else? It's kind of annoying because I like how you can be active once the trip is actually sitting in

I fell asleep during a trip once. But I find it varies a lot. Some trips are very energizing after the initial sleepy come up, and others are very sedating.

Yes they do. On the comedown though they tend to do the opposite and give you physical and cognitive energy. Some people only take shrooms at night though so they never notice this.
I almost fell asleep completely on the come up one time me and my friend and then we each went and hit some weed and were blasted off in saturated psychedelic realms and giddy as hell.

I love it, very natural relaxed sleepy feeling, tryptamine sedation allows me to fall comfortably with no anxiety right into the trip, well because it feels so natural exactly replicating tiredness
There have been times when I feel I'm still conscious but parts of my brain and body fall asleep or are heavily sedated, so relaxing and puts you deep into the experience it literally feels like conscious dreaming! One of the most natural feelings that can be produced by a drug, as DMT is naturally produced within our bodies.
Much more comforting in a sense that what you are feeling and experiencing is a real feeling produced naturally within the body and that the experience is totally a part of you. Comparing to say something like the energy and stimulizing effects of LSD is very apparent it's not a feeling produced naturally - Usually I always feel like I'm on a drug using anything other than DMT or THC where as DMT always is a real feeling for me to the point I can't tell if I'm literally dreaming or not allows me to completely lose the sense of self LSD just can't take me there without anxiety or discomforting abnormal sensations but each have their own uses and experiences both are good for separate things set and setting plays a big role as with any psychedelic.
LSD to me is about unlocking the realms, barriers and full potential of the conscious mind in the sense that I always feel like I'm here on this planet
DMT to me is about ascending further past the conscious mind, into different states of consciousness at a soul level, experiences are generally much deeper and more meaningful at a personal level whereas LSD for me just improves my cognitive ability in general

Yup...
During the come up especially, and during the first hour or two, I always feel extremely sedated/lethargic and sometimes feel the need to lay down...they literally make me lay down sometimes, even force me eyes shut.
But when I'm about 1/2 way into the trip, around 2 hours or so depending on the dose and depending if I ate the mushrooms or took them in a tea, somewhere around that point the overall energy and demeanor of the trip changes drastically into being more energetic and clear.
I can feel it happen rather quickly...Within a few minutes I'll transition from being sedated/lethargic physically, and melted/dreamy/spacey cognitively...to having a ridiculous amount of physical energy/stamina (but not necessarily stimulated), crystal clear thought process and quite an enhanced cognition. It's the most natural feeling "energy" and cognitive enhancement I've experienced from any drug.
Mushrooms used to leave me sedated and laid out for the entirety of the trip, but over the past year or two all my trips have followed the same timeline of becoming more energetic and clear when I'm about 1/2 way into the trip....Because of this, mushrooms have become my favorite thing to dance on, they give me more energy and stamina than any drug I've tried (actually, kratom would be on par with the energy/stamina aspect) and they do something to my cognition, the processing of music, spatial awareness and bodily movement that no other psychedelic or drug does for me....And the act of dancing whilst on mushrooms lifts me up so sooo very high, only times I've experienced pure ecstacy is when dancing on mushrooms .

The come-up gets me stimulated and laughing for about 20minutes, and once they start settling in I usually get heavy and sedated. Very different from LSD ime

Yes it does happen very quickly which is why I've always considered it a very dynamic drug. For me it usually goes from feeling weird, then confusion and sedation, then confoundment then things suddenly clear up and become more emotional and heavenly and then things become very energetic and clearheaded/euphoric and slowly trickles away into positive optimism and rejuvenation-type afterglow.

They do make me want to lie down alot of the time but they can stimulate me a little bit sometimes too. Even if it makes me tired i cant sleep on a decent amount of shrooms at all. Ive never taken under 2 grams so maybemaybe a low dose would allow me to sleep.

The only time I was able to sleep on shrooms was when they were incredibly weak. And one separate time (in the same house oddly enough) right before a really powerful trip kicked in me and my friend almost fell asleep and we had our eyes closed and were finding it hard to communicate then when the trip finally came we were awake af.
